B. Turbidity Barriers: <br />1. General: Use turbidity barriers to control sediment contamination of <br />rivers, lakes, ponds, canals, etc. <br />2. Installation: Install per the manufacturer's recommendations and per <br />FDOT Index No. 103 unless directed otherwise by the ENGINEER. <br />3. Removal: Contractor is responsible for disposal of turbidity barriers. <br />4. Product: All material shall be new and unused. The turbidity barrier shall <br />be a pervious barrier and the fabric color shall be yellow. <br />a. Parker Systems, Inc. (1-866-472-7537), model Type I. <br />b. Or equivalent. <br />C. Sedimentation Control From Dewatering or Pumping Operations Using Filter <br />Bags: <br />1. Remove silt, sediment, and other particles from dewatering or pumping <br />applications using a filter bag. The bag shall be manufactured using a <br />polypropylene non -woven geotextile and sewn by a double -needle <br />machine, using a high strength nylon thread. The bag shall have a fill <br />spout large.enough to accommodate a 4 -inch pump discharge hose. <br />Straps shall be attached to the bag to secure the hose and prevent <br />pumped water from escaping without being filtered. <br />2. Installation: Install in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. <br />Use as many filter bags as required, at no additional cost to the <br />OWNER. Dispose of the bags offsite, at no cost to the OWNER. If the <br />bags are placed on aggregate to facilitate filtration efficiency, do not use <br />limerock aggregate. <br />3. Product: The filter bag shall be supplied with lifting straps. <br />a. "DIRTBAG 53 or 55 as applicable," supplied by ACF Environmental, <br />Inc. (1-800-448-3636). <br />b. "DANDY DEWATERING BAG" supplied by Dandy Products, Inc. (1- <br />800-591-2284). <br />c. Or equivalent. <br />D. Catch Basin Protection: <br />1. Filter stormwater before it enters catch basins (drop inlets). The "sack" <br />shall be manufactured from woven polypropylene geotextile and sewn by <br />a double -needle machine, using a high strength nylon thread. The sack <br />shall be manufactured to fit the opening of the catch basin or drop inlet <br />and it shall have the following features: two dump straps attached at the <br />bottom to facilitate emptying; lifting loops as an integral part of the <br />system to be used to lift the sack from the basin; and a yellow restraint <br />chord approximately halfway up the sack to keep the sides away from <br />the catch basin walls. The yellow restraint chord shall also serve as a <br />visual means of indicating when the sack should be emptied. <br />2. Installation: Install in each catch basin in 'accordance with the <br />manufacturer's specifications.
