On Motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner <br />Macdonald, the following Resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />RESOLUTION <br />NO. 66-21 <br />WHEREAS, the City of Fellsmere has a number of real properties <br />i <br />located within the municipal limits which have reverted to the State <br />of Florida under the Murphy Act; and <br />WHEREAS, on said real properties there are presently unpaid <br />taxes outstanding to the Fellsmere Drainage District and the City <br />of Fellsmere; and <br />WHEREAS, on a public bid, as is required by the Trustees of <br />the Internal Improvement Fund, it is practically impossible to sell <br />these real properties on today's market; and <br />WHEREAS, because of the unexpected shutdown of the Okeelanta <br />Sugar Mill, a major source of income and employment to the citizens <br />of the City of Fellsmere has been eliminated; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fellsmere is attempting <br />tofind means how these real properties can be sold in a practical <br />manner and is anxious to have assistance from various state agencies <br />in an effort to re -vitalize the economy of the community; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners <br />of Indian River County, Florida, in regular session, this the llth <br />day of May, A. D. 1966, as follows: <br />1. The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, solicits advice, help and suggestions in any way possible, <br />and as quickly as possible, from state agencies, particularly the <br />Comptroller and the Florida Development Commission, and other local <br />governmental agencies, with regard to the aforesaid matters. <br />2. The Board of County Commissioners of\Indian River County, <br />Florida, is prepared to meet with officials of state and local govern- <br />mental agencies at any time convenient to each such agency to present <br />their problems in detailed form. <br />MAY 11 1966 <br />000g 9 ma 594 <br />
