Proposed Expanded Scope of Work
September 15 , 2009
Spoonbill Marsh
Benthic Invertebrate Assessment and
Monitoring
Principal Investigator : Dr. Edward Proffitt
Associate Professor
Department of Biological Sciences
Florida Atlantic University
c/o Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute at FAU
Marine Science Bldg
5775 Old Dixie Hwy
Ft . Pierce , FL 34946
772 462 - 0874
cproffit@fau . edu
INTRODUCTION
This proposal is to collect , sort , and identify benthic samples at the three Spoonbill marsh
sites for which the approximate locations are shown in Fig . 1 . These samples will supplement the
data gathered by our previous sampling in the Spring 2009 . The report prepared will provide
comparisons with the earlier samples at these same three Spoonbill sites , and at the Spoonbill
reference sites sampled in the Spring . The report will document and analyze diversity, and will
characterize the benthic community and discuss abundances of the dominant species .
EXHIBIT 1
