had no objections td building a bridge provided the County has the <br />necessary right of way for a road on the east side. <br />Mr. Thomas H. Trent, Civil Defense Director, presented two quotations <br />for building a flat roof weather canopy to protect the front door entrance <br />to Civil Defense Building. Commissioner Macdonald moved, seconded by <br />Commissioner Waddell and passed that the low quotation of Paul R. Jacobi <br />inthe amount of $357.76 for material and labor be accepted. <br />On Motion by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner Waddell <br />and passed, the Civil Defense Director was authorized to attend a Natural <br />Disaster Conference in Orlando on September 13, 1966. <br />As requested at the August 1 meeting, Mr. Jennings reported that <br />he had contacted the Trustees in regard to the application for purchase <br />of submerged land by Norbert F. Stanny et ux, and based on a more detailed <br />description furnished him, the application does not conflict with the <br />County's interests in Round Island Park. <br />On Motion by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner <br />Waddell and passed, all members of the Board, the County Attorney, Mr, <br />Jack Jennings, Mr. Bob Grice, Mr.,Eugene Hamilton, Mrs. Gladys Vigliano <br />and Mrs. Anne Smith and Ralph—Harris, Clerk, were authorized to attend <br />the convention of the State Association of County Commissioners to be <br />held in Hollywood, September 11 through 14. <br />Commissioner Macdonald, reported that there is a possibility that <br />the County may be able to receive matching funds for acquisition of <br />land for public parks and recreational areas, and moved that the Chairman <br />be authorized to make such an application to the Florida Outdoor Recreational <br />Planning Commission for Round Island Park.
