After discussing the letter from Marshall O. Mitchell, Attorney <br />for the Board of Public Instruction, regarding the building permit fees. <br />for the proposed schools, and the Attorney General's opinion pertaining <br />to Pinellas County, it was the opinion of'the Board that, in order not <br />to set any precedent nor to waive any authority of this Board in.regard <br />to set -back requirements, that the Board of Public Instruction will have <br />to have a building permit for the schools, pay for it, and the fee will <br />be returned to them. Upon Motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by <br />Commissioner Haffield, the Administrator was instructed to so notify <br />the School Board. <br />Commissioner McCullers moved that the Board of County Commissioners <br />of Indian River County hereby approves the Blanket Position Bond taken <br />out by the Sheriff to cover Deputy Sheriffs, and approves the appointment <br />of all Deputy Sheriffs whos6 names appear thereon as of this date; and, <br />also that the Board hereby approves the appointment and Bond of <br />Ronald Lee 'Williams, John Jay Keys, Jr.,Donald E. Thompson and Walter <br />J. Edwards as deputy sheriffs. The Motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Macdonald and unanimously carried. <br />On Motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Mac- <br />donald and unanimously carried, the Administrator was authorized to <br />advertise for bids for 1/2 ton pick up truck to be used by the surveyor <br />crew. <br />Mr. Jennings reported that Mr. Jim Thaxton and several other <br />members of the State Road Department have recently discussed a tentative <br />proposal of the removal of the old wooden bridges on State Road 60 and <br />filling in the openings except for the openings which the Central and <br />Southern Florida Flood Control have planned -in drainage of the area. <br />The Central and Southern Florida Flood Control and the State Road Depart- <br />ment have approved the idea and it has been discussed with the St, Johns <br />Drainage District and it is their opinion that they would like to do <br />away with the bridges. The proposal is also being presented to the <br />IndianRiver Farms. Drainage District, Mr. Jennings asked for the opinion <br />of this Board. Mr. Graves stated he thought it was a good idea, that the <br />bridges don't serve any purpose as being a bridge. After further <br />NOV 9 <br />BOOK 10 PAGE 36 <br />
