existing utilities shown on the Contract Drawings are located according to <br /> the information available to the ENGINEER at the time the Drawings were <br /> prepared and have not been independently verified by the OWNER or the <br /> ENGINEER . Guarantee is not made that all existing underground utilities <br /> are shown or that the locations of those shown are accurate . The locations <br /> shown are for bidding purposes only . Finding the actual location of any <br /> existing utilities is the CONTRACTOR's responsibility and shall be done <br /> before it commences any work in the vicinity . Furthermore , the <br /> CONTRACTOR shall be fully responsible for any and all damages , which <br /> might be occasioned by the CONTRACTOR's failure to exactly locate and <br /> preserve any and all underground utilities . The OWNER or ENGINEER will <br /> assume no liability for any damages sustained or costs incurred because of <br /> the CONTRACTOR's operations in the vicinity of existing utilities or <br /> structures , nor for temporary bracing and shoring of same . If it is necessary <br /> to shore , brace , or swing a utility , contact the utility company or department <br /> affected and obtain their permission regarding the method to use for such <br /> work . <br /> 3 . Contact the various utility companies which may have buried or aerial <br /> utilities within or near the construction area before commencing work . <br /> Provide 48 hours minimum notice to all utility companies prior to beginning <br /> construction . <br /> 4 . Schedule and execute all work involving existing utilities in order to minimize <br /> necessary interruption of services . Whenever such interruption is necessary <br /> for completion of the work , notify the ENGINEER and the appropriate utility <br /> at least 48 hours in advance . Perform all work to repair/restore utility <br /> service to the satisfaction of the appropriate utility . Include all costs related <br /> to service maintenance , interruption , and restoration in the appropriate line <br /> item in the Contract . <br /> 5 . Where it is necessary to temporarily interrupt house or business services , <br /> the CONTRACTOR shall notify the owner or occupant, both before the <br /> interruption (24- hour minimum ) , and again immediately before service is <br /> resumed . Before disconnecting and pipes or cables , the CONTRACTOR <br /> shall obtain permission from their owner, or shall make suitable <br /> arrangement for their disconnection by their owner . <br /> 6 . Explore ahead of trenching and excavation work and uncover all obstructing <br /> underground structures sufficiently to determine their location , to prevent <br /> damage to them and to prevent interruption of the services which such <br /> structures provide . If CONTRACTOR damages an underground structure , <br /> restore it to original condition at CONTRACTOR' s expense . <br /> 7 . Necessary changes in the location of the Work may be made by <br /> ENGINEER, to avoid unanticipated underground structures . <br /> 8 .
