2 .2 .2 . Saw Cut Pavement <br /> Methods of Construction <br /> Sawing shall be done with equipment approved by the Engineer. Saws shall be equipped with <br /> guides, blade guards, water cooling system and cut-depth control. Adequate and extra equipment <br /> and parts shall be available at the site prior to and during the sawing operations. <br /> 2 .2 .3 . Pavement Excavation <br /> Description <br /> Pavement excavation shall consist of the cutting, removal and disposal of bituminous paving, <br /> reinforced and non-reinforced concrete pavement courses, including any overlying surface <br /> courses. <br /> ' Materials <br /> No materials are involved. <br /> Methods of Construction <br /> ' Existing reinforced and non-reinforced concrete pavement, concrete bases and their surface <br /> courses, and bituminous concrete, block and brick surfaces shall be removed from their base <br /> ' courses, when and as prescribed or as shown on the Plans. <br /> Prior to any excavation, the Contractor shall cut all pavement surfaces to a neat line, for a <br /> maximum width in accordance with the allowable excavation for the various depths of the <br /> pipeline and/or as shown on the County Road Restoration detail on the Plans. Concrete base <br /> courses or concrete surfaces that have been overlaid with asphalt concrete need not be saw cut. <br /> ' Pavement breakers, which involve the use of a ball, weight or punch, dropped mechanically or by <br /> gravity, shall not be used within five feet (5 ) of a joint adjacent to other pavement which is to <br /> remain in place. <br /> 2 .2.4. Brine Main <br /> ' Descn�tion <br /> ' Brine main shall include the excavation for and the construction of pipe for the conveyance of <br /> wastewater. The main shall be of the type and size specified and shall be constructed at the <br /> prescribed locations and in accordance with the Plans and Specifications or as directed by the <br /> ' Engineer. <br /> 6 <br />
