2 .2 .4 . Brine Main <br /> Materials (Confd) <br /> Pipe Unless otherwise indicated, all ductile iron pipe shall be factory lined and <br /> coated. P pe sh 1 al be <br /> externally coated with a bituminous coating of either coal tar or asphalt base to a minimum dry <br /> film thickness of 1 .0 mil. Coating shall be neither brittle when cold nor sticky when exposed to <br /> the sun. Pressure pipe shall be lined with 40 mils dry film thickness (DFT) of Protecto 401 or <br /> ' approved equal . <br /> If and where directed by the Engineer, a polyethylene encasement shall be provided over pipe, <br /> fittings, and valves. The material, installation, and workmanship shall conform to applicable <br /> sections of ANSI Standard A21 .5 . Installation methods A or B shall be employed using flat tube <br /> polyethylene. The Contractor shall make provisions to keep the polyethylene from direct <br /> ' exposure to sunlight prior to installation; and backfilling following installation shall be <br /> completed without delay to avoid exposure to sunlight. <br /> Markin <br /> The ductile iron and PVC brine main pipe shall be marked with 2 " wide detection tape which <br /> ' shall be adhered to the top of pipe. The tape shall have the words "Brine Main" in 3/4" high <br /> letters appearing one or more times every twenty-four (24 ") inches. <br /> The Brine main shall have continuous # 10 THHN multi-strand conductor copper trace wire in <br /> accordance with Indian River County Utilities latest standards. The wire coating shall be white <br /> ' in color for Brine main. <br /> Warning tapes conforming to ASTM-B 117 and manufactured by Paul Potter, Wheaton, Illinois <br /> or approved equal, shall be installed 12"- 18" inches in depth above the top of and parallel with <br /> pipe in continuous lengths and wrapped around fittings, risers or valves. <br /> ' Polyvinyl Chloride Pine <br /> All polyvinyl chloride pipe shall be extruded from PVC meeting the requirements of Cell <br /> Classification 12454-A or 12454-13 as defined in ASTM D 1784, PVC compounds. PVC pipe <br /> shall be manufactured in compliance with AWWA Standard C-90045 , PVC pressure pipe. <br /> Pressure class shall be Class 150, DR 18 for pipe sizes 4"42" diameter. Municipal Water Pipe <br /> ' conforming to AWWA C900 as manufactured by J.M. Manufacture or approved equal . Brine <br /> polyvinyl chloride pressure pipe for pipe sizes 14"-36" diameter shall conform to the latest <br /> AWWA Standards C-905 . PVC brine main shall be white in color. <br /> PVC pipe less than 4 " diameter shall be Class 200, SDR 21 as manufactured by JM <br /> Manufacturing Company or approved equal . Joints for PVC pressure pipe shall be ball and <br /> ' spigot push-on rubber gasket type only. No solvent weld or threaded joints will be permitted. <br /> 8 <br />
