This tropical storm mainly impacted <br /> Miami - Dade and Broward counties , causing $ 700 million in damage , $500 mill on of which <br /> were agricultural crop losses . During this storm , the City of Sebastian experie iced <br /> significant flooding . <br /> Hurricane Gabrielle of September 2001 . This hurricane made land all on the <br /> west coast of Florida and traveled northeast across the state . The storm spawned a total of <br /> 18 tornadoes . Insured losses associated with this storm totaled $ 115 million . Total damage <br /> is estimated to be nearly $230 million . Readings taken in Ft. Pierce indicate that sustained <br /> winds reached 27 mph , and peak wind gusts were up to 37 mph . Rain meters in Ft . Pierce <br /> indicated 1 . 97 inches of rainfall during this period . <br /> Flooding of June 2002. The Town of Fellsmere experienced flooding from heavy <br /> rains , which rendered some roads impassible and flooded two homes in the Ftfllsmere area . <br /> This storm caused an estimated $ 10 , 000 in damage . <br /> Flooding of August 2002.
