Trent be rehired as Civil.Defense Director for the ensuing year.
Mr. Trent, noting that the members:►:'of the Board of County
Commissioners automatically become members'of the Civil Defense Council,
requested the new members to name an alternate to the Council.
The Chairman then asked if there were any corrections to the.
minutes of December 2, 21 and 22, 1966. Commissioner Macdonald asked
that the minutes of December 21 be corrected to read " Administrator to
review the list of equipment for the Road and Bridge Department" rather
than Sebastian Inlet Park Concession. On Motion by Commissioner Macdonald,
seconded by Commissioner McCullers and carried, the minutes. of December 2
and 22, were approved as written and the minutes of December 21, approved
,as corrected.
On Motion by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner
McCul].ers and unanimously. carried, a request•from Edwin S. Schmucker,
that the traffic counter be sent to him, was denied.
Mr. Jennings reported that a mobile home is parked at Sebastian
'Inlet Subdivision on property•owned by Vance, Poe and Prou].x, in violation
of R1 zoning in that area. The Board requested the. County Administrator
to notify the owner.of the violation and request its removal.
The County Administrator reported that he.had re-evaluated the
present equipment and proposed purchases of the. Road and Bridge Department
as requested by the Board and recommended the following:
1. Replace six trucks, rather than purchase two as orJ,ginally
planned, because of the age of the present trucks and the fact that local
agencies no longer carry repair parts for them.
2. After delivery of the trucks,,when money becomes available,
.then re-evaluate whether a grader or another bulldozer should be purchased.
Mr. Jennings felt that the County could operate without'a new motor grader,
lout, in his opinion, in the event the Viet Nam War were expanded, the
'1ulldozer would be difficult to obtain. Since the County has only one
D-7, he recommended the purchase of a D1-6, rather than a D-4 as originally
suggested. He also pointed out the possibility of the joint land -fill
project with the City of Vero Beach would tie up one machine, and also,
that in the event of a machine breakdown, the D-4 could not carry the
JAN 419i MOK . 10 PAtt 148
