SECTION 01541 <br />PROTECTION OF THE WORK AND PROPERTY <br />1.1 GENERAL <br />A. Take all precautions, provide all programs, and take all actions necessary to <br />maintain, protect, and repair the Work and all public and private property and <br />facilities from damage until the OWNER formally accepts the Work. <br />B. In order to prevent damage, injury or loss, CONTRACTOR's actions shall include, <br />but not be limited to: <br />1. Store apparatus, materials, supplies, and equipment in an orderly, safe <br />manner that will not unduly interfere with the progress of the Work or the Work <br />of any other Contractor or utility service company. <br />2. Provide suitable storage facilities for all materials that are subject to injury by <br />exposure to weather, theft, breakage, or otherwise. <br />3. Place upon the Work or any part thereof, only such loads as are consistent <br />with the safety of that portion of the Work. <br />4. Clean up frequently all refuse, rubbish, scrap materials, and debris caused by <br />construction operations, so that at all times, the site of the Work presents a <br />safe, orderly, and workmanlike appearance. <br />5. Provide barricades and guard rails around openings, for scaffolding, for <br />temporary stairs and ramps, around excavations, elevated walkways, and <br />other hazardous areas. <br />6. Keep all haul roads clean from dirt and debris from haul operations. <br />7. Provide site drainage (including temporary drainage systems) such that the <br />Work is not damaged as a result of stormwater runoff from rainfall. All <br />protective drainage activities shall comply with the requirements specified <br />elsewhere herein. <br />C. Except after written consent from proper parties, do not enter or occupy <br />privately -owned land with men, tools, materials or equipment, except on easements <br />provided. <br />D. Assume full responsibility for the preservation of all public and private property or <br />facility on or adjacent to the site and work area.
