E. Remove all damaged trees and plants that die or suffer permanent injury and <br />replace them at no cost to the OWNER with a specimen of equal or better quality <br />and size. <br />F. Where fill material is intended to be installed adjacent to existing vegetation that is <br />intended to remain natural, water bodies, etc., correctly install and maintain silt <br />fencing in addition to the protective barriers until the area is stabilized. <br />G. Coordinate Work in this Section with requirements of other sections herein. <br />1.4 PROTECTION OF EXISTING STRUCTURES <br />A. Underground Structures: <br />1. Underground structures are defined to include but not be limited to, all sewer, <br />water, gas, and other piping; manholes; chambers; electrical conduits; tunnels; <br />and other existing subsurface work located within or adjacent to the limits of <br />the Work. <br />2. All underground structures known to ENGINEER, and the ENGINEER's <br />CONSULTANT except service connections for water, sewer, electric, gas, and <br />telephone are shown. This information is shown for the assistance of <br />CONTRACTOR in accordance with the best information available, but is not <br />guaranteed to be correct or complete. The existing utilities shown on the <br />Drawings are located according to the information available to the ENGINEER <br />and the ENGINEER's CONSULTANT atthe time the Drawings were prepared <br />and have not been independently verified by the ENGINEER or the <br />ENGINEER's CONSULTANT. Guarantee is not made that all existing <br />underground utilities are shown or that the locations of those shown are <br />accurate. The locations shown are for bidding purposes only. Finding the <br />actual location of any existing utilities is the CONTRACTOR's responsibility <br />and shall be done before it commences any work in the vicinity. Furthermore, <br />the CONTRACTOR shall be fully responsible for any and all damages that <br />might be occasioned by the CONTRACTOR's failure to exactly locate and <br />preserve any and all underground utilities. The OWNER, ENGINEER, and <br />ENGINEER's CONSULTANT will assume no liability for any damages <br />sustained or costs incurred because of the CONTRACTOR's operations near <br />existing utilities or structures, nor for temporary bracing and shoring of same. <br />If it is necessary to shore, brace, or swing a utility, contact the utility company <br />or department affected and obtain their permission regarding the method to <br />use for such work. <br />3. Contact the various utility companies which may have buried or aerial utilities <br />within or near the construction area before commencing work.
