A. General Site Backfill <br /> Compact underneath areas designated for vegetation and areas outside the 5 foot line from <br /> existing or proposed structures to a minimum 95 percent of maximum density per ASTM <br /> D 1557 , <br /> B . Backfill Under Pavements and Around Structures <br /> Compact underneath areas designated for surface pavements and around proposed <br /> structures to a minimum 98 percent of maximum density per ASTM D 1557 . <br /> 3 .06 FINISH OPERATIONS <br /> A. Grading <br /> Finish grades as indicated on the plans to within two inches . In areas where sodding is <br /> required, finished soil grade shall be set 3 -inches below the plan elevation to compensate <br /> for sod thickness. . For existing grades that will remain but which were disturbed by <br /> Contractor's operations, grade as directed. <br /> B . Protection of Surfaces <br /> Protect newly graded areas from traffic, erosion, and settlements that may occur. Repair or <br /> reestablish damaged grades, elevations, or slopes. <br /> 3 .07 DISPOSITION OF SURPLUS MATERIAL <br /> The Contractor may temporarily stockpile all unsuitable fill and backfill material for later disposal . <br /> The stockpiled material shall be piled in an orderly manner so as not to endanger the work or <br /> obstruct roadways or drainage within the designated job site location. All unsuitable material shall <br /> be disposed of by hauling off-site by the Contractor to a suitable disposal location . Waste, brush, <br /> refuse, stumps, roots, timber, etc. shall be removed from the site and disposed of in an approved <br /> manner. <br /> Excess suitable backfill material is the property of the Owner. The Owner shall determine the <br /> ultimate disposition of the material and may require the Contractor to relocate (haul) the material to a <br /> site within a 10 mile drive of the project site at no additional cost to the Owner. <br /> END OF SECTION <br /> 02302 — Excavation and Fill <br /> 02302 - 8 <br />
