SECTION 02531 <br />GRAVITY SEWER MANHOLES <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.01 SCOPE <br />The work to be performed under this item shall include the furnishing of all materials, equipment <br />and labor required for the installation of pre -casts gravity sewer manholes as herein described and as <br />shown on the Plans. The Contractor shall perform all excavation, backfilling, and related work <br />required for the construction of the gravity sewer manholes in accordance with the provisions set <br />forth under the applicable items of this Specification. <br />1.02 REFERENCES <br />Standard applicable in this Specification shall be: <br />A. American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) <br />1. ASTM A48-76 - Specifications for Gray Iron Castings. <br />2. ASTM C478 -82a - Standard Specification for Pre -cast Reinforced Concrete <br />Manhole Section <br />1.03 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Shop Drawings - Prior to any fabrication or installation work, the Contractor shall <br />furnish to the Engineer, for review and approval five (5) sets of shop drawings for the <br />following items. All drawings shall be reviewed, approved and stamped by the <br />Contractor prior to submittal to the Engineer. <br />1. Pre -cast manholes <br />B. Manufacturer's Data - Prior to any fabrication or installation work, the Contractor shall <br />furnish to the Engineer, for review and approval, manufacturer's data for the following <br />items: <br />1. Manhole frames and covers <br />2. Manhole rainguard boots <br />3. Press seal pipe connectors <br />4. "Ram-Nek" mastic joint sealer <br />PART 2 - MATERIALS <br />2.01 MANHOLES <br />A. Pre -cast Manholes - Pre -cast manholes shall conform with the typical manhole details as <br />shown on the Plan and shall consist of a pre -casts reinforced base, cast monolithically <br />with a minimum two foot length of barrel section, additional barrel sections and manhole <br />cones. All concrete used in the construction of pre -cast manholes shall be Type H with a <br />28 -day compressive strength of 4000 psi. <br />02531 — Gravity Sewer Manholes <br />02531-1 <br />
