B. COLORS - All road centerline stripes shall be yellow. All road edge stripes, stop <br />bars, parking spaces stripes, markings, etc, shall be white. Handicap areas shall be <br />painted per the details on the Drawings and all stripes and markings per the Manual <br />on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). <br />C. PAINT <br />1) The paint shall be traffic paint formulated and manufactured from first grade <br />materials. It shall be free from imperfections and defects that may adversely <br />affect the finished product. <br />2) The paint shall conform to the FDOT Standard Specification for Road and <br />Bridge Construction Section 710. Submit shop drawings containing the <br />manufacturer's technical literature on the paint in accordance with Section <br />01340. <br />3) GLASS BEADS - The road centerline stripe, edge of road stripes, stop bars, <br />and all other painting within the road shall have durable reflective glass <br />spheres. The glass spheres shall be applied at a rate of 6 pounds per gallon <br />of paint while the paint is still tacky enough for them to adhere. Glass <br />spheres are not required for parking lot space stripes. . <br />D. APPLICATION OF THE PAINT <br />1) Wait a minimum of 3 weeks after laying the asphalt before applying paint to <br />it. Equipment and application shall comply with FDOT Standard <br />Specification for Road and Bridge Construction Section 710-3, 7104, and <br />710-5. <br />2) Paint stripes shall be as per the MUTCD. Before applying any striping, mark <br />the locations with chalk, tacks, or other suitable means. <br />3) The paint application equipment shall be in good working condition and shall <br />apply the paint uniformly at the required thickness with well-defined edges. <br />The pavement surface must be dry when the paint is applied. <br />4) All paint spills, application defects, alignment errors, discolored paint, etc., <br />shall be removed in a manner that will remove the paint without harming the <br />pavement. <br />+ + END OF SECTION + + <br />02536-2 02536 — Pavement Markings <br />
