Mr. Eugene Cobb appeared before the Board objecting to the <br />Resolution adopted on March 8 (#67-16) certifying Dale Street, commonly <br />known as Powerline Road, has been designated, established and maintained <br />by the Board as a public road for a period of more than 7 years. He <br />stated that he purchased Lot 12, Section 30, Township 30S, Range 38E, <br />from Mr. Kinneth Daniels, that Mr. Daniels built the road himself 21 <br />years ago, that there are high tension Florida Power 4 Light poleson <br />the edge .of the property and that his right-of-way would extend pat <br />the poles about 15 feet and that he saw no reason for anything the <br />County could use it for, and it is taking about 15 feet off his property <br />that he would like to use for agricultural purposes. He further stated <br />he would be glad to give the County anything up to the poles. After <br />discussion, the matter was tabled until the May 24 meeting. <br />The Chairman read a letter from the Pioneer Occupational Center <br />for the Handicapped in Port Salerno-, thanking the Board for their <br />contribution and that the Commission is entitled to a member on the <br />Board of Trustees. Commissioner Dritenbas was appointed by the Chairman <br />to serve in this capacity. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner2McCullers that the Boy Scout <br />and Girl Scout organizations of Indian River County be allowed to camp, <br />free of charge, at the Sebastian Inlet Park under the supervision cif <br />their Scout leader. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Macdonald and <br />unanimously carried. The -Clerk was requested to advise Mr. Henry <br />Thompson of this action by letter. <br />The County Administrator read letters from Police Chief Wallace <br />Gossett and the Board of Public Instruction, dated April 24, pertaining <br />to the openlhg; of 14th Street from 16th Avenue to 20th Avenue and for <br />widening 16th Street from 20th Avenue to Old Dixie Highway to alleviate <br />the traffic problem at the High School. He also referred to a letter <br />to the Chief of Police from the State Road Department wherein recommend- <br />ations for a municipal section for 16th Street, estimated cost $150,000, <br />and a previous recommendation for use of school property for better traffitc <br />circulation had been made. After. discussion, Commissioner Macdonald <br />moved that"the Administrator advise the School Board and the Police <br />Chief that the municipal section could only be considered in the 1968-69 <br />Secondary Road Budget; and request that they reconsider the previous <br />recommendation of the State Road Department to alleviate the situation <br />by use of school property.
