DEET DUNKELBERGER ENGINEERING & TESTING, INC .
Indian River County February 28 , 2005
1840 - 25th Street Project No . 05 - 10- 1946
Vero Beach, Florida 32960-3365
Attention : Mr. Steve Blum, Architect . . . via email (sblum@ircgov. com) and U. S. Mail
Subject : Scope of Services - Construction Materials Testing
20th Avenue Bridge Project
IRC Bid No . 7043
Indian River County, Florida
Dear Mr. Blum :
Dunkelberger Engineering & Testing, Inc . (DE &T) is pleased to submit this scope of services
letter in connection with the planned 20th Avenue Bridge project in Indian River County,
Florida. Our services will be provided under our continuing Geotechnical Services Contract
(RFP #7018) with Indian River County (January 2005 through January 2006) . In general , our
services will involve performing field and laboratory quality control (QC) testing, including test
pile driving oversight.
We understand that the project will involve construction of a new bridge to allow access from
existing Aviation Road to the proposed Indian River County Administration Complex. The
construction will include the new bridge and a short section of roadway. Based on the
discussions at the February 21 , 2005 per-construction meeting with you, we envision that our
services will primarily involve the periodic performance of field and laboratory tests in
connection with roadway/embankment construction, storm pipe installation, and bridge
construction. A more specific listing of the services which we anticipate providing for the
project follows on the next page :
Bridge Structures
• Pile driving analysis (PDA) testing during test pile installation and development of
recommendations for production pile lengths and final driving criteria.
• Periodic testing of concrete during substructure and superstructure construction. This
will include slump, temperature and air content of plastic concrete, and compressive
strength testing of hardened specimens .
523A NW Enterprise Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida 34986 • (772) 343-9787 • Fax (772) 343-9404
