lw <br />RESOLUTION NO. 68- 2 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, <br />resolves: <br />1. Pursuantto the authority vested in this Board by Chapter 67-1518, <br />Laws of Florida, this Board does herewith determine that it should investigate <br />and determine the nature and extent of the water resources within the bound- <br />aries of Indian River County or otherwise available to it and the means -where- <br />by such resources can best be conserved, developed, managed, controlled <br />and utilized for beneficial public and private use consumption. <br />2. In order to properly utilize the authority recited above, this <br />Board has sought and received the advice of a citizens committee of the <br />county consisting of those citizens known to have special interest and qualifi- <br />cations, headed by Dr. G. B. Britton. <br />3. At its meeting on March 20,, ° 1968, this Board heard a presentatio <br />made by Dr. Robert Vernon of the Florida Board of Conservation and Mr. <br />Clyde Conover .of the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey, generally out- <br />lining the prospects of a program of agreement among this Board, the State of <br />Florida and the United States of America for a water resources study, at the <br />conclusion of which this Board tentatively determined that such a study was <br />the first essential in determining any future program for this County but that <br />there are presently no budgeted funds of this Board which may be expended for <br />such a purpose. <br />4. That this Board does herewith express its present intent to in- <br />clude in its budget which would become effective on October 1, 1968, a sum of <br />money presently estimated to be $15, 000.00 in order that it could provide the <br />local participating funds required in order to have a complete water resources <br />study and report made by the Florida Board of Conservation and the United <br />States Coast and Geodetic Survey. <br />5. That in accordance with the suggestions made by the East Central <br />Florida Regional Planning Council and in order to provide the greatest benefit <br />to this Board and the citizens of this county, this Board does express the <br />desire and suggestions that such a report not only include the highly technical <br />Smith, Heath, Smith & O'Haire, Attorneys At Law, Vero Beach, Florida NO i& 1[t <br />APR 101968 <br />
