WEDNESDAY, JULY 24, 1968 The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida met in regular session at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida on Wednesday, July 24, 1968. Present were Jack. U. Dritenbas, Chairman; Robert W. Graves and Donald Macdonald, Absent were D. B. McCullers, Jr. and Richard P. Bogosian. Also present were Jack G. Jennings, County Administrator; Sherman N. Smith, Jr., County Attorney; and Alfred H. Webber and Janet N. Burriss, Deputy Clerks. The Chairman called the meeting to order and asked if there - •were any additions or corrections to the minutes of July 2 and July 10. There were none and upon Motion made by Commissioner Graves, seconded by Commissioner Macdonald and unanimously carried the minutes were approved as written. Doctor Paul Taylor of the Indian River Hospital Staff appeared before the Board stating that he felt that in the case of indigent patients, a more severe screening should be made. He stated that the services of a Medical Social Worker wem greatly needed, that an employee of this nature would be directly under the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners, would work throughout the County and at the Hospital, and that the cost would be shared by the County and the Hospital. Doctor Taylor stated that the swimming pool project mentioned in the minutes of June'19, 1968 was coming along nicely, that over $6,000.00 has been donated, that the City of Vero Beach has provided for $10,000.00 for the pool and that an equal share from the County would be greatly appreciated. Doctor A. C. Lindsey, veterinarian, appeared before the Board stating that the loose dogs roaming the County were causing a great. deal of damage and that they were also a health menance to the community.
