WEDNESDAY, JULY 24, 1968 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida met in regular session at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, <br />Florida on Wednesday, July 24, 1968. Present were Jack. U. <br />Dritenbas, Chairman; Robert W. Graves and Donald Macdonald, <br />Absent were D. B. McCullers, Jr. and Richard P. Bogosian. Also <br />present were Jack G. Jennings, County Administrator; Sherman N. <br />Smith, Jr., County Attorney; and Alfred H. Webber and Janet N. <br />Burriss, Deputy Clerks. <br />The Chairman called the meeting to order and asked if there <br />- •were any additions or corrections to the minutes of July 2 and <br />July 10. There were none and upon Motion made by Commissioner <br />Graves, seconded by Commissioner Macdonald and unanimously carried <br />the minutes were approved as written. <br />Doctor Paul Taylor of the Indian River Hospital Staff appeared <br />before the Board stating that he felt that in the case of indigent <br />patients, a more severe screening should be made. He stated that <br />the services of a Medical Social Worker wem greatly needed, that <br />an employee of this nature would be directly under the jurisdiction <br />of the Board of County Commissioners, would work throughout the <br />County and at the Hospital, and that the cost would be shared by the <br />County and the Hospital. <br />Doctor Taylor stated that the swimming pool project mentioned in <br />the minutes of June'19, 1968 was coming along nicely, that over <br />$6,000.00 has been donated, that the City of Vero Beach has provided <br />for $10,000.00 for the pool and that an equal share from the County <br />would be greatly appreciated. <br />Doctor A. C. Lindsey, veterinarian, appeared before the Board <br />stating that the loose dogs roaming the County were causing a great. <br />deal of damage and that they were also a health menance to the <br />community. He stated that more effective measures would be necessary <br />to put and keep this situation in hand He, said that he was receiving <br />g0131( 11 fIGE330 <br />JUL 24 1969 <br />
