Hydro:^1e,r .. South Relief Canal Algal Turf Scrubber@ Pilot Program
shall have a width of 1 feet and a length of 500 feet .
• A Pacer (or approved equivalent) self priming centrifugal pump will be located
at a station contiguous to the South Relief Canal , complete with flexible
intake hose , a slotted intake manifold properly secured with ground anchors ;
PVC force main with check valves , recycle return lateral with valving ,
sampling lateral with valving , and influent force main with 2 " ultrasonics
flowmeter with totalizer .
• Either a 20 , 000 gallon tank for storage of RO Concentrate , with common
outlet manifold and quick disconnect and valving to intake of small centrifugal
or diaphragm type pump , with propeller type flow meter and throttling valving
as supplied by the Utilities Department , or a force main extending from a tap
into the existing RO Concentrate force main to the Pilot Facility , to include the
appropriate valving and metering units . A sufficiently sized force main will
deliver RO Concentrate to the ATSTM surger .
• 120V , single phase power shall be provided at influent and effluent stations
as well as the two pump stations .
• A temporary , 6 foot chain link fence with locked gates shall be placed around
the facility .
• A gravity effluent discharge line with a 2 " ultrasonics flow meter identical to
that used on the influent line , for delivery and monitoring of ATSTm effluent to
the downstream reaches of the South Relief Canal .
• An influent sampling station and an effluent sampling station will be included
and shall be designed to support operations and to house and protect two
refrigerated composite automatic samplers . A third sampler , which can hold
the collection bottle in ice will be used for sampling for chronic bioassays of
ATSTm effluent .
• ATSTM Influent will be introduced at an approximate rate of 20 gpm , and will
be a 6 : 1 to 10 : 1 blend of South Canal water (= 18 . 2 gpm ) and RO
Concentrate (= 1 . 8 gpm ) .
• ATSTM influent and effluent samples shall be collected weekly from the
influent surger reservoir and from the effluent box via two refrigerated time
interval autosamplers and via grab samples for short hold time parameters .
The third sampler will be used to collect 24 hr composite samples for chronic
bioassay on ATSTm effluent ( See Tables 1 and 2 ) .
• Bi -weekly grab samples from RO Concentrate , Canal Influent and ATSTM
influent for parameter note in Tables 1 and 2 to include selected parameters
presently required by Permit 31 - FL00039740 , except for bioassays .
Plan of Study 7
