s
The site location shall be in the vicinity of the South Relief Canal , west of Old
Dixie Highway , on the South Bank of the Canal (circa 27 ° 36 ' 9 . 46 " N and 80 °
23 ' 31 . 95W) . Actual location , configuration and the method by which RO
concentrate is delivered will be developed in close coordination with
IRFWCD , Florida Power and Light ( FPL) , and the Utilities Department .
The proposed pilot facility will be the CONSULTANT' s standard Mobile Pilot Unit ( MPU ) ,
which shall be a 1 ft wide , 500 ft long , geomembrane lined aluminum floway with
attachment grid . The MPU will initially be operated at a Linear Hydraulic Loading Rate
( LHLR) of 20 gpm/If or an average daily flow of 28 , 800 gpd .
Surger and
Surger box Influent Sampler
` ATSTM Mobile Pilot Unit Floway Effluent Sampler
Influent FM 1 ' wide by 500' long
from Pump } 0.5% to 1 . 5% slope
illlii Effluent Sump
Effluent
o Discharge Line
NEW
\\\0\
Figure 1 . Cross section of proposed Pilot Scale A TSTIM system . (NTS)
The canal water will be delivered through a self-priming centrifugal pump ( Pacer or
equivalent) at a rate which can be adjusted from 10 -20 gpm . A 2 " Octave TM battery
powered ultrasonic in - line flow meter shall be used to document totalized flow of the
canal water and effluent flows . The Utility Department shall provide the delivery
systems for the RO concentrate to the MPU headworks . The COUNTY will provide
pumping and flow measuring appurtenances for the RO concentrate , which allow
delivery of the concentrate to the ATSTIM surger box at an adjustable rate of 1 -4 gpm .
The two flows will combine and mix within the first compartment of the surger box . The
ATSTm effluent flow will be discharged into a sampling sump/outflow box prior to
measurement and final discharge at least 400 feet downstream of the canal intake .
As noted , canal water inflow shall be blended with the RO Concentrate at a target ratio
of 6 : 1 to 10 : 1 canal water to Concentrate , and the blend provided to the MPU self-
siphoning surger at an initial rate of 20 gpm . Flow rate and blend adjustments shall be
made based upon actual field conditions and system performance .
fApublic works\keithm\stormwater projects\south relief canal screening system and ats\work orders\hydromentia work order pcS- 1 -
pilot plant - 8-23-2010 . doc
