M, <br />Y� j� •� yA� <br />W. -Edward Weems, Jr. and Ronald W. Wiles, National Scientific <br />Corporation appeared before the Board for the purpose of making <br />a study at a cost of $12,840.00 to the. County for the purpose of <br />determining the need of the County for.a data processing system. <br />Commissioner Loy was requested to contact the elected Officials <br />throughout the County, the School Board and the City of Vero <br />Beach regarding their interest inAthe study. <br />A letter was received from Harold E. Moffitt who wishes to <br />go on record as being opposed to a moratorium on the placing of <br />mobile homes in the County. <br />A letter was received from the;Indian River County Chamber of <br />I <br />Commerce requesting that the following Resolution be made a part <br />Df these minutes: <br />i <br />WHEREAS; the Long,Range Planning C'o•mmittee of the Vero <br />Beach- Indian River County Chamber of Commerce <br />has, for some months, <br />been engaged in the study of the situetion.'with re4ard to the necessity <br />•for additional bridge facilities across the Indian River, connecting <br />the mainland -and beach area within'the City limits of Vero Beach; and <br />WHEREAS, after much study and discussion of the problem, it <br />appears to this Committee that all other things being equal, that the <br />construction of a second bridge at a location within the City limits, <br />other than at the site of the present bridge, will be more feasible <br />and a more satisfactory solution to the problem than the expansion of <br />the pre'se•ntly existing bridge for several reasons, not the leas t�fof <br />which is that there would be much added traffic congestion to the <br />approaches to the existing bridge upon its being widened; <br />THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Long Range Planning <br />Committee that we do urge the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County that in its duscussion with the State Department <br />of Transportation that they present the views of this Committee in <br />regard to the situation, and that we urge the Department of Transportation <br />JUL 2 2 1970 <br />
