Sector 3 Beach & Dune Restoration Project Attachment 1 to Change Order No I <br /> all nursery facilities for the purpose of observation of the propagation and <br /> growing methods being employed by the CONTRACTOR. <br /> The CONTRACTOR will be allowed to water-in (initially irrigate) all newly <br /> installed planting units according to a CONTRACTOR prepared and COUNTY <br /> approved irrigation schedule . The CONTRACTOR will be responsible for all <br /> aspects of the initial irrigation including compliance with all environmental <br /> permitting regulations , requirements and conditions stated in the permits which <br /> address maintenance irrigation and installation activities . <br /> The CONTRACTOR will be responsible for the provision of all irrigation water <br /> required under this bid . Freshwater (potable only) shall be provided by the <br /> CONTRACTOR and applied to the planting zones using a non- scouring spray <br /> applicator . The CONTRACTOR shall make all necessary arrangements with the <br /> appropriate local agencies if the use of local hydrants in the area is desired . <br /> The CONTRACTOR will be allowed to maintenance irrigate the installed <br /> planting units according to the CONTRACTOR prepared and COUNTY <br /> approved irrigation schedule . The CONTRACTOR will be responsible for all <br /> aspects of the maintenance irrigation including compliance with all <br /> environmental permitting regulations , requirements and conditions stated in the <br /> permits which address maintenance irrigation and installation activities . The cost <br /> of maintenance irrigation events anticipated by the CONTRACTOR shall be <br /> included in the per planting unit cost in the contract bid-documents . <br /> The application of maintenance fertilization during the 90 day warranty period <br /> may be undertaken by the CONTRACTOR at the CONTRACTOR ' s discretion . <br /> The cost of any and all fertilization shall be included in the per planting unit cost <br /> in the contract bi-d--documents . Maintenance fertilization, if employed, will be <br /> undertaken in a manner which complies with all environmental permits <br /> applicable to the Project site . The CONTRACTOR will be allowed to <br /> maintenance fertilize the installed planting units according to the <br /> CONTRACTOR prepared and COUNTY approved fertilization schedule . <br /> Whether the CONTRACTOR chooses to maintenance fertilize or not, <br /> compliance with all provisions of the Specifications including but not Limited to , <br /> the survival guaranty and replanting sections of the Specifications shall be met . <br /> Item 18 : 'Technical Specifications — Section 30 . 5 Dune planting warranty period <br /> Section 30 . 5 is amended as follows : <br /> 30 . 5 Dune planting warranty period . The CONTRACTOR shall warranty all dune <br /> plants for 90 days . Within planting areas of questionable growth/success results , <br /> the ENGINEER reserves the right to inspect root penetration for possible replant <br /> by the CONTRACTOR. Thirty (30) plants within each questionable planting <br /> area may be randomly selected to be dug up for root growth inspection . Eighty <br /> (80) percent of selected plants shall have achieved root penetration of 9 " or <br /> greater for both grass species . The planting survival shall be deemed a success if <br /> both individual planting unit survival and root penetration are met . <br /> Page 9 of 26 <br /> March 16, 2010 <br />
