ORDINANCE NO. 87-19 <br />Objective #2 - Enhance water quality values through use of <br />drainage practices which will eliminate pollutant loadings from <br />receiving waters. <br />Policy #2a - Utilize best management practices and other <br />methods which will remove pollutants from storm water runoff <br />before reaching surface and subsurface waters. <br />Policy #2b - To protect natural areas and open space in order <br />to facilitate adequate drainage and aquifer recharge capabilities. <br />Policy #2c - Insure that all drainage canals and <br />retention/detention areas are properly maintained and kept free of <br />any trash or debris which may hinder their efficiency. <br />Objective #3 - Coordinate with the St. Johns River Water <br />Management District, the Municipalities, and the Drainage <br />Districts in solving drainage problems on a County -wide basis. <br />Policy #3a - Support the adoption of ordinances which will <br />improve drainage conditions. <br />EXISTING CONDITIONS AND APPROACHES <br />Topography - The topography of Indian River County does not <br />have extreme changes in elevations, however, there are several <br />large physiographic features that are of importance to the <br />County's storm water management program.
