DEWEY WALKER, ZONING INSPECTOR REPORTED ON ZONING <br />VIOLATIONS. MR. WALKER PRESENTED TO THE BOARD FOR THEIR <br />KNOWLEDGE A LETTER FROM ARTHUR S. FRIEND, PRESIDENT OF THE <br />VERO BEACH ASSOCIATION ADDRESSED TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD <br />OF APPEALS, URGING THE BOARD OF APPEALS TO REVERSE A RECOMMENDATION <br />MADE BY THE COUNTY ZONING COMMISSIONER ON LOT 120 IN THE MOORINGS <br />WHICH WOULD PERMIT APARTMENTS OR CONDOMINIUMS TO BE BUILT TO A <br />HEIGHT OF 55 FEET OR MORE. <br />VALENTYNE E. BRENNAN, PLANNING DIRECTOR APPEARED AND <br />REQUESTED THE BOARDS APPROVAL TO USE THE SURPLUS AMOUNT IN <br />THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT 1971-72 BUDGET IN THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT <br />OF $2,358.00 FOR A SPIRAL BINDER MACHINE AND PRINTING MACHINE. <br />MR. BRENNAN ALSO REQUESTED THE BOARDS APPROVAL T0 - <br />PURCHASE ADDITIONAL COPIES OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR VERO <br />BEACH -INDIAN RIVER COUNTY AT A TOTAL COST OF $2,333.50. MR. <br />BRENNAN REQUESTED THAT THIS AMOUNT BE ADVANCED TO THE PLANNING <br />DEPARTMENT FROM THE 1972-73 BUDGET AND IT WOULD BE PAID BACK AS <br />THESE REPORTS ARE SOLD, <br />COMMISSIONER MCCULLERS, STATED, IN HIS OPINION, nTOO <br />MUCH MONEY IS GOING INTO THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT AND VERY LITTLE <br />COMING OUT <br />COMMISSIONER DRITENBAS STATED "THIS IS NOT MY FEELINGS". <br />COMMISSIONER BOGOSIAN STATED "PLANNING DOES NOT HAVE AN <br />IMMEDIATE EFFECT, BUT THE FUTURE WILL SHOW ITS RESULTS." <br />NO ACTION WAS TAKEN AT THIS TIME ON EITHER PROPOSALS <br />SUBMITTED BY MR. BRENNAN. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER MASSEY, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />MCCULLERS, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AUTHORIZED ROSEMARY RICHEY, <br />SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS TO USE 32 VOTING MACHINES IN THE SECOND <br />PRIMARY ELECTION ON OCTOBER 3, 1972. <br />THE BOARD APPROVED MRS. RICHEY'S REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL <br />SPACE AND MADE AVAILABLE TO HER THE SMALL OFFICE OFF THE COUNTY <br />COMMISSION ROOM. <br />-5- <br />SEP 2 n 1972 <br />�. <br />
