INDIAN RIVER COUNTY ORDINANCE NO. 87 - 62 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA CREATING <br />ARTICLE IV OF CHAPTER 18, ENTITLED "ROAD ADDRESSING <br />SYSTEM"; ESTABLISHING A UNIFORM ROAD ADDRESSING <br />SYSTEM; PROVIDING FOR ASSIGNMENT OF BUILDING NUMBERS <br />AND ROAD DESIGNATIONS; PROVIDING FOR A ROAD.IDENTIF- <br />ICATION GRID SYSTEM; PROVIDING FOR A BUILDING AND <br />SITE NUMBERING SYSTEM; PROVIDING FOR THE POSTING OF <br />BUILDING NUMBERS; PROVIDING FOR A CHANGE OF ADDRESS; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN APPEAL PROCEDURE; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />ENFORCEMENT PROVISION; AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF <br />CONFLICTING PROVISIONS, CODIFICATION, SEVERABILITY, <br />AND EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County does not presently have <br />an ordinance that establishes a uniform road addressing pro- <br />cedure, and <br />WHEREAS, the establishment of a uniform road address- <br />ing procedure based upon a logical grid system aids emergency <br />services in locating and responding to emergency calls; and <br />WHEREAS, the establishment of a uniform road address- <br />ing procedure is important and necessary for the success of the <br />emergency 911 system, in the public interest and for the <br />health, safety and general welfare of the Citizens of Indian <br />River County; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br />SECTION 1 <br />Article IV, Road Addressing System, of Chapter 18 of <br />the Code of Laws and Ordinances of Indian River County is <br />hereby created as follows: <br />Sec. 18-55. Short title. <br />This article and the provisions contained herein <br />shall be known as the "Indian River County Road Addressing <br />System Ordinance." <br />Sec. 18-56. Authority for enactment and purpose. <br />
