Bikeways. The project developer shall be responsible for the <br />provision of a bikeway(s) along the project site's frontage on <br />all rights-of-way or easements as designated in the Indian <br />River County Comprehensive Bikeway and Sidewalk Plan. <br />(aZ Specifications. All bikeways shall be constructed in <br />accordance with specifications found in the Florida Department <br />of Transportation (FDOT) Bicycle Facilities Planning and <br />Design Manual (most recent edition), unless otherwise approved <br />by the Public Works Director or the Director's appointed <br />designee. In approving construction plans for bikeways, the <br />Public Works Director, or the Director's appointed designee, <br />shall also consider the specifications listed in the <br />Comprehensive Bikeway and Sidewalk Plan in relation to the <br />following items: <br />1. Width: Bikeways shall be constructed at the minimum width <br />specified in the County Comprehensive Bikeway and <br />Sidewalk Plan. The Public Works Director, or the <br />Director's appointed designee, may approve construction <br />plans proposing less than the listed minimum width in <br />order to accommodate design constraints for the <br />bikeway(s); <br />2. Location: Bikeways shall be constructed in the locations <br />specified in the County Comprehensive Bikeway and <br />Sidewalk Plan. The Public Works Director, or the <br />Director's appointed designee, may approve alternative <br />locations in order to accommodate design constraints for <br />the bikeway(s); <br />3. Identification. Bikeways shall be posted or identified <br />by permanent markings as set forth by the FDOT Bicycle <br />Facilities Planning and Design Manual (most recent <br />edition) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) <br />Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) (most <br />recent edition). <br />(b) Provision. The developer shall be required to provide for <br />construction of a required bikeway segment(s) in compliance <br />with one of the following methods, as approved by the Public <br />Works Director or the Director's appointed designee: <br />1. Exemptions. <br />The developer is exempted from the requirement to provide <br />a bikeway segment(s) along an unpaved thoroughfare plan <br />roadway which is not scheduled for improvement on the <br />Countv's 20 -Year Roadwav Improvement Plan Schedule. <br />Method.
