elements providing breaks in the planes of exterior walls <br />and/or roofs to articulate the building and to lessen the <br />appearance of excessive mass. Facades should incorporate <br />elements relating to human scale, and can be divided by use <br />of: proportional expression of structure, openings. arcades, <br />canopies, fenestration, changes in materials, cornice details, <br />molding details, changes in the heights of different sections <br />of the building, and the like (ste1212ing or sloping of a <br />parapet wall in conjunction with a low sloped roof is <br />prohibited). Flat, blank. unarticulated, or massive facades <br />will be permitted on the sides and rear of a building where <br />"blank facade foundation plantings" are provided for such <br />building facade faces (see foundation plantings section for <br />requirements). <br />ii The following materials or systems are prohibited as a <br />finish and/or exposed product: corrugated or ribbed metal <br />panels, smooth finish concrete block (standard concrete <br />masonry units),precast concrete tee systems, plywood or <br />textured plywood.
