03 <br />Comprehensive Plan ATTACHMENT A Economic Development Element <br />problems associated with local businesses, the type of job training and assistance needed by <br />businesses, businesses willing to expand, businesses considering relocation, and linked businesses. <br />The Economic Development Division and other economic development groups shall report survey <br />results to the Economic Development Council at the first meeting of each calender year. <br />Policy 1.5: The Economic Development Division of the Indian River County Chamber of <br />Commerce shall continue to contact businesses, as identified in its marketing plan, to encourage <br />those businesses to consider Indian River County as a possible location. The county's list of targeted <br />industries shall be the Economic Development Division's guide for the type of businesses to contact. <br />On a quarterly basis, the Economic Development Director of the Chamber of Commerce shall report <br />to the Economic Development Council the number of businesses that were contacted, the type of <br />businesses that were contacted, the number of persons employed by each of the businesses, and the <br />result or actions taken from those contacts. <br />Policy 1.6: The county, the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce, and other economic <br />development groups designated by the Board of County Commissioners shall continue to inform <br />existing and relocating businesses of training programs that are offered by the Indian River <br />Community College, the Jobs and Education Partnership Program, and local high schools. <br />Representatives from these institutions shall be invited to provide an annual report to the Economic <br />Development Council summarizing what type of training assistance was provided to local <br />businesses. <br />Policy 1.7: As an employer, the county shall notify local residents and local business of any <br />employment or service contract opportunities by advertising job opportunities in the local newspaper <br />and by sending request for proposals to appropriate local businesses. To ensure proper notification, <br />the county's General Services Department shall maintain a list of local businesses and contractors. <br />Policy 1.8: The county shall on a semi-annual basis re-evaluate the size and location of its <br />commercial/industrial nodes. On an annual basis, the county shall update its Commercial/Industrial <br />Data Source Book.
