M <br />ALFA HOME COMMUNITIES,.REPRESENTED BY L.R. SCHMIDT AND <br />EARL OWENS, ENGINEER APPEARED REQUESTING TENTATIVE APPROVAL FOR <br />A ZONING CHANGE FROM C-1 COMMERCIAL AND R-3 MULTIPLE FAMILY DISTRICT <br />TO R -IPM PERMANENT MOBILE HOME DISTRICT OF APPROXIMATELY 120 ACRES <br />IN THE WABASSO AREA. <br />THE ADMINISTRATOR INFORMED -MR. OWENS OF THE PROCEDURE <br />TO BE FOLLOWED. A ZONING CHANGE CAN ONLY BE GRANTED IF ALL RE- <br />QUIREMENTS ARE FULLFILLED BEFORE THE FINAL PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE <br />THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. <br />COMMISSIONER BOGOSIAN INFORMED MR. OWENS THAT HIS FEELINGS <br />ARE SUCH THAT IF THIS REQUEST FOR A ZONING CHANGE IS BROUGHT UP AT <br />A PUBLIC HEARING, HE WOULD BE IN OPPOSITION TO IT. <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT STATED THAT HE WOULD ALSO OPPOSE THIS <br />ZONING CHANGE. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />BOGOSIAN, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY DENIED THE REQUEST OF_A PUBLIC HEARING <br />FOR A ZONING CHANGE, AS REQUESTED BY ALFA HOME COMMUNITIES. <br />COMMISSIONER BOGOSIAN STATED IHE FOLLOWING REASONS ARE <br />THE BASIS FOR MY SECONDING THE ABOVE MOTION: <br />WE HAVE IN THE COMMUNITY INADEQUATE HOSPITAL FACILITIES TO <br />ACCOMMODATE ANY SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN POPULATION. <br />THE SCHOOL SYSTEM,AT THE PRESENT TIME,IS INADEQUATE TO <br />ACCOMMODATE THE CHILDREN NOW ATTENDING SCHOOL. <br />FIRE PROTECTION IS INADEQUATE IN MOST OF THE COUNT, AT -THE <br />PRESENT TIME. <br />WATER AND SEWER COLLECTION SYSTEM IN THE COUNTY IS INADEQUATE. <br />BASICALLY, IT IS A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD THAT ALL OF THE <br />PUBLIC SERVICES ARE EXTENDED TO THE POINT THAT THEY CANNOT ACCOMMODATE <br />THE PEOPLE NOW IN THE COUNTY." <br />MR. W.L. MCLENDON, FIELD REPRESENTATIVE FOR CONGRESSMAN <br />BAFALIS APPEARED REQUESTING OFFICE SPACE IN THE COURTHOUSE ONE DAY <br />A WEEK FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS. MR. MCLENDON SUGGESTED <br />WEDNESDAY MORNING FROM 9-11 O'CLOCK A.M.
