The animal control <br />authority is hereby further authorized to require mandatory electronic <br />identification device (microchip) implantation, and to collect payment <br />from the owner of an animal for the costs of implanting a microchip, as <br />specified in this chapter. A microchip implantation, and accompanying <br />fee, is mandatory_ for: (i) all dogs held for a potentially dangerous dog <br />or dangerous dog investigation; and (ii) all dogs that are impounded for <br />any reason for the third time. Prior to release of any of the foregoing <br />animals, the animal shall have an electronic identification device <br />(microchip) implanted by either a veterinarian or appropriate Humane <br />Society personnel. <br />(H). All officers are hereby authorized to issue citations notifying <br />persons to appear in the county court when the officer has probable cause <br />to believe that such person has committed a violation of the Indian River <br />County animal control ordinance. The determination that a violation of <br />.............. <br />this chapter has occurred may be the result of the officer's own <br />......................._._._._._._.__ ......... <br />................................... <br />investigation or as the result of a complaint by an aggrieved person. <br />Section 302.07. IMPOUNDMENT, REDEMPTION, SURRENDER, AND DISPOSITION of <br />NON -QUARANTINED ANIMALS. <br />(A) Impoundment. <br />(1} Any impounded animal reeeived er—tken inte e�dsted<y by Iche anifftal <br />shall be properly delivered to a designated impoundment <br />facility for handling and disposition in accordance with this chapter and <br />any contractual agreement between the county and the operator of such <br />designated impoundment facility. Upon impoundment _ <br />e� <br />of an animal, the animal control authority shall make every <br />reasonable effort to notify the owner in person, by telephone or by U.S. <br />mail, informing him or her of the impoundment and the conditions whereby <br />custody of the animal may be regained. In the event an impounded animal <br />is licensed and tagged, reasonable notice shall be satisfied by <br />contacting the registered owner at the address on file with the county, <br />unless the person notifying the owner has actual knowledge of more <br />accurate information. <br />
