The requirements and standards created by this Ordinance are <br />necessary and appropriate to protect the health, safety, and welfare of <br />the citizens of Indian River County. <br />Section 302.01. SHORT TITLE. <br />This chapter may be referred to and cited as the "Indian River County <br />Animal Control Ordinance." <br />(Ord. No. 91-51, § 11 12-17-91) <br />(A). As used in this chapter, the following terms shall mean: <br />1. Animal control division: The animal control division of Indian River <br />County, Florida. <br />Animal control officer: An individual employed, contracted with, or <br />appointed by the Board or the animal control authority to: €-er the <br />p:rpese—e€ investigate, on public or private property, civil infractions <br />relating to animal control or cruelty; issue citations as provided in <br />this chapter; seize and impound animals; and aid in the enforcement <br />of this chapter aet or any other law or ordinance relating to the <br />licensure, of animals, control, e:€-afAfRals or seizure and impoundment of <br />animals; provided, however, that no employee of the humane society shall <br />be deemed to be an animal control officer; and further provided that <br />where the animal control officer is employed or appointed by the Board, <br />the animal control officer shall meet all of the rectuirements of the <br />Section <br />302.02. <br />DEFINITIONS AND <br />GENERAL <br />PROVISIONS. <br />(A).
