BRENNAN STATED AGAIN THAT HE DID NOT FAVOR A <br />YARE BASIS, _ <br />COUNTY -WIDE DEPARTMENT, BUT DID FAVOR A. <br />AT THIS POINT COMMISSIONER SIEBERT STATED,THAT <br />IT LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE LOTS OF LOSERS AND NO WINNERS. <br />COMMISSIONER DRITENBAS STATED THAT ON A 60-40 BASIS <br />HE BELIEVED THE COUNTY IS GETTING A GOOD DEAL. <br />CHAIRMAN LOY ASKED, "WHAT IF WE CHANGED TO A COUNTY- <br />WIDE DEPARTMENT, WOULD WE UNDOUBTEDLY END -UP WITH ADDITIONAL <br />1 <br />DEPARTMENTS? <br />COMMISSIONER DRITENBAS STATED THAT HE COULD NOT SEE <br />WHY THE CITY WOULD WANT TO ESTABLISH ANOTHER PLANNING DEPARTMENT. <br />COMMISSIONER BOGOSIAN STATED THAT ALL OF THESE <br />. <br />ARGUMENTS ARE FINE, BUT FROM A RESPONSIBILITY POINT" OF <br />VIEW, THE DECISION IS UP TO THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. <br />COMMISSIONER BOGOSIAN FURTHER STATED THAT HE WOULD BASE THE <br />SERVICES ON THE POPULATION OF EACH CITY AND THE COUNTY. IT WAS <br />NOT UP TO US TO TELL THE CITY WHETHER THEY SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT <br />HAVE A SEPARATE PLANNING DEPARTMENT. HE FURTHER STATED THAT <br />IF WE DO GO ON A 60-40 BASIS THAT THE COUNTY SET THE BUDGET, <br />AS HE DID NOT THINK THE CITY OF VERO BEACH SHOULD HAVE AN EQUAL <br />SAY. <br />FURTHER DISCUSSION FOLLOWED ON THE INTERIM $36.000.00 <br />BUDGET FOR THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER BOGOSIAN, SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER MASSEY, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THAT THE <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROPRIATE $15,000.00 TO THE <br />PLANNING DEPARTMENT FOR HIRING ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL AND THE <br />OPERATION OF THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT FOR THE BALANCE OF THE <br />COUNTY IS FISCAL YEAR.
