THE ADMINISTRATOR INFORMED THE BOARD OF A REQUEST <br />FROM K. MATUCHA IN BEHALF OF ROBERT I. GALE FOR THE ABANDONMENT <br />OF A PORTION OF A STREET IN INDIAN RIVER HEIGHTS.SUBDIVISIAN, <br />UNIT 4. THIS IS A TRAFFIC ISLAND. <br />MR. GALE HAD PREVIOUSLY REQUESTED THE ABANDONMENT OF THIS <br />SAME PORTION OF STREET AND THE BOARD INSTRUCTED THE ADMINISTRATOR <br />TO WRITE MR. GALE INFORMING HIM THAT NO ABANDONMENTS WERE BEING <br />MADE DURING THE TIME OF DESIGN STUDY OF A COUNTY -WIDE <br />WATER AND SEWER SYSTEM. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER DRITENBAS, SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY DENIED THE <br />REQUEST OF K. MATUCHA IN BEHALF OF ROBERT I. GALE TO ABANDON <br />A SMALL PLOT OF LAND ABUTTING LOTS 1 AND 9 OF BLOCK H, UNIT <br />4, INDIAN RIVER HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION AS IT IS THE COUNTY'S POLICY <br />NOT TO ABANDON PROPERTY BECAUSE OF OUR POSSIBLE NEEDS IN.A , <br />COUNTY -WIDE WATER AND SEWER SYSTEM. <br />DAVID LANGFITT, SR. APPEARED REGARDING FINAL APPROVAL <br />OF RIVER RIDGE ESTATES SUBDIVISION. TENTATIVE APPROVAL WAS <br />GIVEN ON DECEMBER 11, 1972. SINCE THE ADMINISTRATOR HAS NOT <br />HAD TIME TO REVIEW THIS A MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER <br />SIEBERT, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER BOGOSIAN, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY <br />APPROVED TABLING THIS UNTIL THE NEXT MEETING AND REFERRED THIS <br />REQUEST FOR FINAL APPROVAL TO THE ADMINISTRATOR FOR FURTHER <br />INVESTIGATION. <br />GEORGE MCKENNA, ASSISTANT TO THE ADMINISTRATOR INFORMED <br />THE BOARD THAT PERSONNEL IN THE ROAD AND BRIDGE DEPARTMENT AND <br />OTHER EMPLOYEES UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br />HAVE THEIR HOSPITALIZATION PAID FOR THEM, BUT WHEN AN EMPLOYEE <br />REACHES 65 YEARS OF AGE, HE OR SHE IS TRANSFERRED FROM OUR <br />COUNTY GROUP% PLAN BLUE CROSS -BLUE SHIELD COVERAGE TO MEDICARE. <br />UNDER MEDICARE, HOWEVER, THERE ARE ANNUAL DEDUCTIBLES WHICH MUST <br />BE PAID BY THE EMPLOYEE. MR. MCKENNA STATED THAT THERE ARE <br />FOUR EMPLOYEES OVER 65 YEARS OF AGE A14D RECOMMENDS THE BOARD'S <br />APPROVAL TO PAY $7.70 PER MONTH FOR SUPPLEMENTAL BLUE CROSS <br />BLUE SHIELD FOR THESE EMPLOYEES. <br />4 <br />
