COMMISSIONER SIEBERT INFORMED THE ,BOARD OF A <br />PROBLEM INTERSECTION AT S.R. 5A AND SIO AND U.S.1 AND THAT <br />A TRAFFIC LIGHT IS NEEDED. <br />COMMISSIONER MASSEY STATED THAT THIS INTERSECTION THERE <br />ARE FIVE ROADS ENTERING AND CROSSING U.S.1; VISIBILITY IS BAD AND <br />TRAFFIC SIGNS ARE VERY CONFUSING. <br />THE ADMINISTRATOR STATED THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION HAS INVESTIGATED THIS AREA AND THERE HAS <br />BEEN APPROVAL. TO INSTALL A CAUTION LIGHT AT THIS INTERSECTION - <br />THE CAUTION LIGHT IS ON ORDER. <br />THE BOARD REQUESTED SHERIFF JOYCE TO PREPARE A MAP <br />INDICATING WHERE ACCIDENTS ARE HAPPENING AND ALSO TO IN- <br />VESTIGATE THE INTERSECTIONS OF NORTH GIFFORD ROAD AND <br />KINGS HIGHWAY AND THE ABOVE DISCUSSED INTERSECTION AS TO THE <br />NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS IN THE LAST FEW YEARS, AND REPORT BACK <br />TO THE BOARD. <br />VAL BRENNAN, PLANNING DIRECTOR APPEARED AND INFORMED <br />THE BOARD THAT THERE ARE TWO DEVELOPMENTS OF REGIONAL IMPACT <br />READY FOR APPROVAL TO ADVERTISE FOR PUBLIC HEARINGS: FAIRHAVEN <br />AND INDIAN RIVER TRAILS. <br />MR. BRENNAN REQUESTED DIRECTION FROM THE BOARD REGARDING <br />WHETHER OR NOT THE BOARD WILL CONSIDER THE DUNES OF DEAUVILLE <br />SUBDIVISION AS A DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL IMPACT. THIS IS <br />A DEVELOPMENT OF 491 LOTS AND ACCORDING TO A LETTER RECEIVED <br />FROM THE REGIONAL COUNCIL STAFF, THE DECISION ON WHETHER <br />OR NOT THIS DEVELOPMENT SHOULD GO THROUGH THE D.R.I. PROCESS <br />OR THROUGH LOCAL PROCESS IS UP TO THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. <br />SHERMAN SMITH, ATTORNEY AND ROBERT F. LLOYD, ENGINEER <br />REPRESENTING THE DUNES OF DEAUVILLE SUBDIVISION WERE PRESENT. <br />ATTORNEY BURCH STATED THAT THE BOARD CAN NOT REQUIRE <br />A DEVELOPER TO OBTAIN REGIONAL COUNCIL APPROVAL IF THE <br />DEVELOPMENT IS UNDER 5OO UNITS. <br />MR.
