Building Ordinance continued <br />-5- <br />Section 13. Powers and Duties of Buiiding OfficiaL <br />(1) The County Building Official (sometimes hereinafter <br />referred to as the Electrical Inspector) shall enforce the provisions of this <br />code, and he or -his duly authorized representative may enter any building <br />structure or premises that is subject to this ordinance to perform any <br />duty imposed on him. by this code. <br />(2) Upon notice from the Building Official that work or <br />any electrical installation is being done contrary to the provisions of this <br />code or in a dangerous or unsafe manner, such work shall be immediately <br />stopped. Such notice shall be in writing and shall be given to the owner of <br />such property, or to his agent, or to the person doing the work, and shall <br />state the conditions under which work may be resumed. Where any emer- <br />gency exists, oral notice given by the Building Official shall be. sufficient. <br />(3) The Building Official may. revoke a permit or approval <br />issued under the provisions of this act in case there has been any false <br />statement or misrepresentation as to the material fact in the application or <br />plans on which the permit or approval was based. In all such cases, no <br />permit fees shall be refunded. <br />(4) All electrical installations, regardless of type, <br />which are unsafe or which constitute a hazard to human life, health, or <br />welfare are hereby declared illegal and shall be abated by repair and <br />rehabilitation or by demolition in accordance with the procedure as out- <br />lined in Section 103. 4 - Unsafe Buildings, of the Southern Standard <br />Building Code, as modified by this ordinance. <br />(5) Any requirements necessary for the safety of an <br />existing or proposed electrical installation or for the safety of the occu- <br />pants of a building or structure not specifically covered by this code shall <br />be determined by the Building Official subject to appeal to the Board of <br />Adjustments and Appeals. <br />(6) It shall be the duty of the Building Official to issue <br />permits for and inspect all electrical wiring apparatus or equipment for <br />i lights, heat, power and other uses or purposes inside of or attached to. <br />buildings, structures or appurtenances subject to this ordinance and to <br />look after the enforcement of laws, rules and regulations relating to same. <br />' (7) The Building Official may give temporary permission <br />to connect and furnish electric current to any wiring apparatus or fixtures <br />for a period of not exceeding thirty (30) days, if, in his opinion, such <br />wiring apparatus or fixtures are in suchcondition that current may safely <br />be connected therewith, and there exists an urgent necessity for such <br />use, when written permission is filed with him, requesting such permission. <br />(8) The Building Official is hereby empowered to inspect <br />or reinspect at his option all interior wires and apparatus conducting or <br />using electric current for lights, heat or power; and when said conductors <br />or apparatus are found to be unsafe to life or property, he shall notify the <br />person, firm or corporation awning, using or operating them to place same <br />in a safe and secure condition within twenty-four (24) hours or such further <br />time as he determines necessary. <br />
