RESOLUTION NO. 2007- 131 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br /> INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE COMMUNITY <br /> DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA <br /> DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS FOR A DISASTER RECOVERY <br /> INITIATIVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FOR FEDERAL <br /> FISCAL YEAR 2007. <br /> WHEREAS, during the 2005 Hurricane season, damage occurred in Indian River County <br /> to existing housing units that are now deteriorated and in need of being rehabilitated, <br /> replaced, and/or hardened against future hurricanes; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners <br /> to submit an application to the Florida Department of Community Affairs for a Disaster <br /> Recovery Initiative Community Development Block Grant to assist in recovery from the <br /> effects of Hurricane Wilma by rehabilitating, replacing, and/or hardening deteriorated <br /> housing within the County to benefit persons of low and moderate income, where no <br /> other funding is available to address the need; and <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application is <br /> consistent with the Indian River County Comprehensive Plan; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY; THAT <br /> SECTION 1. The Board of County Commissioners hereby directs the County <br /> Clerk to execute all necessary certifications for the Community Development Block <br /> Grant application to be submitted on or before September 30, 2007. <br /> SECTION 2. The Board of County Commissioners directs the Community <br /> Development Director to execute and submit an application to the Florida Department of <br /> Community Affairs for State approval. <br /> 1 <br />
