THE BOARD WAS INFORMED THAT THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACT IS A <br />STATE PROGRAM FUNDED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. <br />MR, THOMAS, COUNTY COORDINATOR STATED THAT SENDING IN ONLY ONE <br />PROJECT OF HIGH PRIORITY MIGHT NOT BE GOOD AND HE SUGGESTED THAT IF <br />THE BOARD DECIDES ON TWO OR THREE PROJECTS THAT MEET ALL THE PRIORITY <br />REQUIREMENTS, THAT THEY ALL BE SUBMITTED, <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE CONTINUED THAT THESE PROJECTS ARE FOR THE <br />UNINCORPORATED AREAS, AND LISTED HIS PRIORITIES AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. PAVING ROADS IN THE GIFFORD AREA AND INSTALLING STREET LIGHTS <br />2. SUITABLE WATER IN THE GIFFORD AREA <br />3. RECREATION EQUIPMENT AND PROGRAMS FOR THE GIFFORD AREA <br />4. DRAINAGE IN THE WEST WABASSO AREA. <br />CHAIRMAN LOY STATED THAT MANY OF THE ITEMS DISCUSSED WERE GOOD, <br />AND SHE PROCEEDED TO LIST HER PRIORITY PROJECTS. <br />1. A SOURCE OF GOOD WATER TO URBAN DEVELOPMENT UTILITIES SYSTEM, <br />WHICH POSSIBLY WOULD HAVE TO BE IN COOPERATION WITH THE CITY <br />OF VERO BEACH. <br />2. THE DRAINAGE PROBLEM IN THE WEST WABASSO AREA IS ONE OF OUR <br />CRITICAL AREAS AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED. <br />3. SOME TYPE OF STREET PAVING AND ROAD PROGRAM WITHIN THE GIFFORD <br />AREA. <br />4. A STREET LIGHTING PROGRAM IN HIGH DENSITY AREAS OF THE <br />UNINCORPORATED AREAS, <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE SUGGESTED THAT HAVING DISCUSSED THIS HE FEELS <br />CONFIDENT THAT WE KNOW THE AREAS THAT NEED HELP, AND HE SUGGESTED <br />REPORTING THIS INFORMATION TO THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT AND SEE WHAT <br />THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS ARE. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE QUESTIONED IF THE GIFFORD AREA IS A NUMBER <br />ONE PRIORITY AND WEST WABASSO AREA IS NUMBER TWO - COULD WE TIE <br />THESE TWO AREAS TOGETHER. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE STATED THAT HE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE <br />FARMERS HOME ADMINISTRATION CAN AND WILL GET THE WATER SITUATION <br />WITH URBAN DEVELOPMENT UTILITIES STRAIGHTENED OUT, <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR STATED THAT THE CONSULTING ENGINEERS FOR <br />URBAN DEVELOPMENT UTILITIES HAVE SUBMITTED THEIR REPORT FOR THE UP- <br />GRADING OF THE WATER AND SEWER SYSTEM TO FARMERS HOME ADMINISTRATION <br />-4- <br />JO 291975 BOOK 22 PAGE 27 <br />
