• <br />IN 291975 <br />FOR THEIR REVIEW° <br />THE CHAIRMAN STATED THAT AFTER DISCUSSION WE HAVE TWO MAJOR AREAS - <br />GIFFORD AND WEST WABASSO THAT HAVE A GREAT NEED FOR THESE FEDERAL FUNDS <br />UNDER THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACT. THIS INFORMATION WILL BE FORWARDED <br />TO VAL BRENNAN, PLANNING DIRECTOR AND THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR AND THE <br />COUNTY CONSULTING ENGINEERS MIGHT BE CALLED UPON FOR THEIR ASSISTANCE, <br />THE CHAIRMAN STATED THAT AT THE DECEMBER 4, 1974 MEETING, THE VERO <br />BEACH CIVIC ASSOCIATTON PRESENTED A REQUEST, PETITIONS AND CON- <br />SIDERABLE INFORMATION REGARDING ESTABLISHING A CHARTER STUDY COM- <br />MISSION AND AT THAT TIME WE AGREED TO GET TO THIS ITEM IN JANUARY, <br />IF POSSIBLE FOR A LITTLE MORE DISCUSSION. <br />JEROME KRAMER, ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF VERO BEACH CIVIC <br />ASSOCIATION APPEARED AND INFORMED THE BOARD THAT BROWARD AND COLLIER <br />COUNTIES HAVE APPROVED CHARTERS, WHICH HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY THE <br />VOTERS, MR. KRAMER SUGGESTED THAT THE BOARD APPOINT A COMMISSION <br />THAT HAS THE AUTHORITY TO EMBARK ON THIS STUDY. <br />JOANNE DAVIS APPEARED STATING THAT REPRESENTATIVE CHESTER CLEM <br />COULD NOT APPEAR AT THIS MEETING, BUT HE DID AUTHORIZE HER TO STATE <br />THAT HE IS INTERESTED IN THIS AND DOES FAVOR APPOINTING A CHARTER <br />STUDY COMMITTEE. <br />JOHN EGAN III, WITH THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE APPEARED AND.BTATED <br />THAT THE CHAMBER HAS LOOKED INTO THIS STUDY WITH THE IDEA OF ASSURING <br />THE RESIDENTS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY THAT THEY ARE GETTING THE MOST <br />FROM THEIR GOVERNMENT. <br />HERMAN HEISE, PRESIDENT OF THE INDIAN RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE HAS <br />PREPARED A STUDY FOR US OF OUR COUNTY GOVERNMENT AND HE HAS COME UP <br />WITH FOUR ALTERNATIVES. THE CHAMBER WOULD LIKE TO REVIEW THIS REPORT <br />FIRST THEN MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS AND PRESENT THE REPORT TO THE COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS. THE REPORT IS COMPLETE AND THERE IS A COMMITTEE STUDYINC <br />IT AND THEY WILL REPORT BACK AT THE FEBRUARY 10TH CHAMBER BOARD MEETING. <br />AT THAT TIME THEY WILL MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS WHICH WILL BE PASSED ON TO <br />THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. MR. EGAN STATED THAT THE CHAMBER WOULD LIKE <br />THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO WAIT AND REVIEW THEIR REPORT BEFORE FORMING <br />A CHARTER STUDY COMMISSION. HE STATED THAT THE CHAMBER HOPES TO HAVE <br />THE REPORT TO THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS BY THEIR FEBRUARY 19, 1975 <br />MEETING. <br />-5- <br />BOOK 22 FACE 28 <br />
