VAL BRENNAN, PLANNING DIRECTOR, APPEARED AND REPORTED TO THE <br />BOARD THAT HE HAD ATTENDED AN INFORMATIONAL MEETING OF THE RESOURCE CON- <br />SERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT ON APRIL 25TH ALONG WITH BOB BOOTH, <br />WHO IS WITH THE SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE, <br />HE STATED THAT THE REASON FOR THIS MEETING WAS TO ORGANIZE A <br />COMMITTEE OF ABOUT THREE (3) REPRESENTATIVES FROM EACH COUNTY TO PUT TO- <br />GETHER AN APPLICATION FOR RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS <br />TO BE ACCOMPLISHED IN THIS REGION, <br />MR, BRENNAN CONTINUED THAT THERE IS ONE BASIC REQUIREMENT TO GET <br />ANY PROJECT APPROVED; THAT IS THAT BOTH THE LOCAL SOIL CONSERVATION BOARD <br />AND THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MUST APPROVE THE PROJECT, FUNDING HAS BEEN <br />ESTABLISHED AS FOLLOWS: <br />80% FEDERAL, 20% LOCAL ON FLOOD PREVENTION PROJECTS <br />50% FEDERAL, 50% LOCAL ON RECREATION PROJECTS <br />75% FEDERAL, 25% LOCAL ON LAND STABILIZATION PROJECTS <br />BOB BOOTH OF THE SOIL CONSERVATION BOARD WAS PRESENT FOR THIS <br />DISCUSSION AND STATED THAT EXPANSION OF THE RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AT <br />BLUE CYPRESS LAKE AND HOBART BEACH COULD BE CONSIDERED AS RECREATIONAL <br />PROJECTS, HE STATED THAT PROJECTS MUST BE SOIL AND WATER RELATED PROJECTS, <br />AFTER DISCUSSION, A MOTION WAS MADE BY COPMIISSIONER SIEBERT, <br />SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AUTHORIZED VAL <br />BRENNAN AND L. S. "TOMMY1° THOMAS TO ATTEND THE NEXT MEETING OF THE RESOURCE <br />CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT TO BE HELD LATER THIS MONTH FOR THE <br />PURPOSE- OF FURTHER INVESTIGATING THE POSSIBILITY OF GRANT MONEY FOR <br />RECREATIONAL AND PARK DEVELOPMENT PURPOSES, <br />MR, BRENNAN THEN PRESENTED TO THE BOARD FOR THEIR REVIEW AND <br />APPROVAL AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT ON'.EACH OF THE PROJECTS INCLUDED IN <br />THE APPLICATION FOR DISCRETIONARY FUNDS UNDER THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />PROGRAM, <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />SIEBERT, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT AND <br />AUTHORIZED THE SIGNATURE OF THE CHAIRMAN, TO BE FORWARDED TO THE REGIONAL <br />PLANNING COUNCIL A-95 CLEARINGHOUSE FOR THEIR REVIEW. <br />3 <br />NAY 71975 <br />ge 22' 344 <br />T _ . <br />
