RESOLUTION NO. 2005 - 039 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS FOR A DISASTER RECOVERY <br />INITIATIVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FOR FEDERAL <br />FISCAL YEAR 2005. <br />WHEREAS, during the 2004 Hurricane season the County suffered numerous <br />damages to its public facilities and infrastructure, including damages to Fire/EMS <br />facilities, and damages to Parks and Recreation facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, flooding from the hurricanes caused extensive property damage, <br />polluted drinking water and natural waterways, and created unsanitary conditions <br />in portions of the County; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Indian River County Board of County <br />Commissioners to submit an application to the Florida Department of Community <br />Affairs for a Disaster Recovery Initiative Community Development Block Grant to <br />assist in recovery from federally declared disasters that occurred between August <br />31, 2004 and October 1, 2004 and where no other funding is available to address the <br />need; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) <br />application is consistent with the Indian River County Comprehensive Plan; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY; that <br />SECTION 1. The Board of County Commissioners hereby directs the <br />County Clerk to execute all necessary certifications for the Community <br />Development Block Grant application to be submitted on or before April 4, 2005. <br />1 <br />
