MILLER INFORMED THE BOARD THAT HE HAD MET WITH COUNTY <br />CONSULTING ENGINEER JAMES BEINDORF AND FELT THEY COULD WORK TOGETHER <br />VERY WELL, <br />RICHARD HOWARD CONCLUDED THEIR PRESENTATION, RECAPPING HIS <br />EARLIER STATEMENTS, <br />COMMISSIONER LOY NOTED THAT IN REGARD TO ACQUISITION OF LANDFILL, <br />WE CANNOT WAIT AND WILL NEED TO MAKE OUR OWN SELECTION. SHE ASKED MR. <br />HOWARD IF THEY ARE PRESENTLY EMPLOYED BY ANY COUNTY IN FLORIDA TO CONDUCT <br />1immico 7 I <br />MR. HOWARD STATED THEY ARE NOT AT PRESENT. <br />COMMISSIONER LOY ASKED MR. HOWARD TO ESTIMATE THE TIMETABLE <br />NECESSARY TO HANDLE THIS TYPE STUDY FOR INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />MR. HOWARD STATED THAT THEY COULD BEGIN IMMEDIATELY AND WAS SURE <br />THEY COULD MEET WHATEVER TIMETABLE WAS NECESSARY. <br />COMMISSIONER LOY ASKED WHAT EXPERIENCE CONNELL, METCALF & EDDY <br />HAVE HAD WITH REGARD TO THE SOLID WASTE PORTION OF THE STATE REQUIRED <br />MASTER USE PLAN. <br />MR. HOWARD ANSWERED THAT THERE IS NOTHING UNIQUE ABOUT FLORIDA <br />AND ITS LAND USE PLAN; THAT THERE ARE REGULATIONS AND RULES IN FORCE IN <br />OTHER STATES THAT ARE SIMILAR AND MORE RESTRICTIVE AND THEY HAVE HAD <br />EXPERIENCE ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES IN MEETING AND BEING COMPATIBLE <br />WITH THESE SITUATIONS. HE NOTED THAT THEIR PLANNERS ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE <br />LAND USE PLAN. <br />COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER ASKED WHAT WORK THEY HAD DONE AT CAPE <br />KENNEDY. <br />MR. HOWARD STATED THAT THIS WAS STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING, BUT THEY <br />HAVE DONE SEVERAL ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS IN FLORIDA. <br />COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER ASKED IF THEIR STAFF IS BASED MOSTLY IN <br />MIAMI OR IN ORLANDO. <br />3 <br />A <br />
