AGREEMENT FOR MEDICAL EXAMINERS PROGRAM <br />ti <br />This AGREEMENT, entered into this first day of July , 1977 , by and between <br />the State of Florida, Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, hereinafter re- <br />ferred to as "Department", and Indian River Board of County <br />Commissioners, the governing body of County, hereinafter re erred to as "County". <br />Any reference in this AGREEMENT to "Districts" shall mean'Medical Examiner <br />Districts as established by the Medical Examiners' Commission. <br />WITNESSETH: <br />WHEREAS, Florida Statutes Chapter 406, authorizes the Department to disburse to the <br />County Commission funds to be used to continue improvement and upgrading of Medical <br />Examiner Services mandated in Chapter 406 F.S. <br />NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual undertakings and agreements hereinafter <br />set forth the Department and County agree as follows: <br />I. THE COUNTY AGREES <br />UL 61,1977 <br />A. To use the funds paid under the contract by the Department for the sole purpose <br />of augmenting, supporting, and improving the District Medical Examiner Services <br />Program. The County is free to use these funds for improving fees for service, <br />salaries, equipment, buildings, transportation, investigations, autopsies, <br />toxicology, laboratory services and other expenses related to Medical Examiner <br />services. <br />B. The County agrees to consult and cooperate with the District Medical Examiner <br />of District W19 in determining the requirements of providing fees for service, <br />salaries, equipment, buildings, transportation, -investigations, autopsies, <br />toxicology laboratory services and other expenses related to medical examiner <br />services. <br />C. The County agrees to provide for equitable and reasonable administrative <br />costs necessary for the District Medical Examiner to conduct medical examiner <br />serviges for the District. <br />D. That the normal and ordinary fees, salaries, and expenses of the District <br />Medical Examiner may be paid from the general funds or any other funds under <br />the control of the Board of County Commissioners. <br />,E. The County agrees to provide all services and facilities as may be necessary <br />to carry out the intent of Chapter 406 Florida Statutes. <br />F. That in the event of the performance of an examination or autopsy by a District <br />Medical Examiner or his Associate upon a body when the death occurred outside <br />of his District, the governmental body requesting the examination or autopsy <br />shall pay the fee for such services. <br />G. The County agrees to enter into appropriate working arrangements with other <br />counties under the jurisdiction of the Medical Examiner of District #19 , <br />and other such counties as may be necessary to provide uniform medical examiner <br />services for the district. <br />H. The County agrees to provide the Department, at the end of each quarter, a <br />report identifying total funds expended or encumbered for medical examiner <br />services in areas such as: <br />1. Salaries and fees for service <br />2. Transportation <br />3. Facilities and Equipment <br />4. Administrative Costs <br />5. Other Related Expenses <br />I. The County agrees that any funds not expended at the end of the fiscal year <br />shall be placed in a Medical Examiners Service Trust Fund or the County will <br />otherwise show intention and proof of encumbrance of such funds for future <br />medical examiner services or facilities. <br />2 'y <br />� Y <br />BaW(' 30 PAGE 182 <br />
