MR. BIESCHKE AGREED THAT THE MAPS JUST SHOW MINIMUMS AND <br />NOTED THAT THE RATES, FOR INSTANCE; APPLY TO FIVE FOOT PLUS. HE STATED = <br />THAT IF ANY INDIVIDUAL DISAGREES WITH HIS PARTICULAR ELEVATION, HE <br />CAN HAVE HIS AGENT WRITE TO TRAVELERS AND EXPRESS HIS GRIEVANCE, AND <br />THEY WILL HANDLE IT ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. <br />COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER NOTED THAT IF YOU HAVE AN EXISTING <br />HOME AT AN ELEVATION BELOW FIVE FEET, YOU HAVE A HIGHER RATE, BUT IF <br />YOU HAVE NOT BUILT, HE FELT YOU WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED T0, <br />DISCUSSION FOLLOWED ON THIS POINT, AND ASSISTANT PLANNER BERG <br />FELT THE INTENT OF THESE STUDIES IS TO ENCOURAGE COMMUNITIES TO HAVE <br />SOME TYPE OF REGULATORY DEVICE THAT WOULD ASSURE MINIMUM ELEVATION OF <br />HOMES. HE INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THE CITY HAS AN ORDINANCE DEALING <br />WITH FLOOR ELEVATIONS, AND HE SUGGESTED THAT WHEN WE ARE SATISFIED WITH <br />THE MAPS, WE ADOPT A SIMILAR ORDINANCE. <br />ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS SUGGESTED THAT THE FLOOD INSURANCE <br />RATE MAPS BE REFERRED TO THE TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR REVIEW <br />AND POSSIBLY SOME OF THE QUALIFIED PEOPLE PRACTICING IN THE COUNTY CAN <br />GIVE THEIR COMMENTS. <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE INSTRUCTED THE ADMINISTRATOR TO SUBMIT THESE <br />MAPS TO THE TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR REVIEW AND TO SET UP A <br />MEETING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. HE REQUESTED MR. BIESCHKE TO WORK ON THIS <br />WITH THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT AND BRING BACK RECOMMENDATIONS. <br />MR. BEISCHKE NOTED THAT THE TWO-MONTH EXTENSION WAS ACTUALLY <br />GIVEN THREE WEEKS AGO, BUT COMMISSIONER LOY FELT WE WILL RECEIVE A <br />LETTER FROM MR.
