4. All animals obtained by the Society must remain in its custody <br />for a minimum of five days, unless such animal is diseased or injured to such <br />an extent that, in the Society's judgment, it would be advisable to dispose of <br />same prior to the five day period or unless the provisions of Paragraph 9 of <br />R <br />this agreement are complied with in a shorter period of time, and provided <br />Paragraph 6 herein is not applicable. If Paragraph 6 is applicable, its <br />provisions control. <br />5. In determining when an animal should be disposed of in less than <br />the five day period stated above, the Society shall decide at its own discretion <br />whether or not to dispose of same. <br />6. The Society shall become responsible for the care of the animal <br />after it has been delivered by the Impounding Officer or Sheriff Deputy of <br />the County to the shelter belonging to the Society, and the receipt for same <br />has been issued to the Impounding Officer by the Society and shall provide <br />quarantine for animals that have been reported to the Society to have bitten <br />any person or other animal or is otherwise suspected of being rabid. Not- <br />withstanding any other provisions in this agreement, such animal shall remain <br />in quarantine for at least ten (10) days and shall be professionally examined <br />before being released from quarantine at the end of the ten (10) day period. <br />Quarantine means placing the animal in its own cage whereby it shall have <br />no physical access to other animals and said cage shall have a quarantine <br />sign and a Health Department Form affixed thereto. <br />7. In the event there are no Society personnel on duty when the <br />Impounding Officer or Sheriff Deputy of the County delivers an animal to the <br />shelter, it shall be placed in a holding facility on the property of the Society <br />pending appropriate entry procedures, and upon giving a receipt to the <br />Impounding Officer showing proper entry procedures have been followed, <br />the Society shall become responsible for such animal. <br />JAN $81978 <br />Bcax 33 PAGE 11. <br />
