SUHR, JR., AND JIMMIE MACK <br />ARTHUR COLLINS. <br />DISCUSSION AROSE IN REGARD TO THE REQUEST OF E. WAYNE <br />BAKER FOR A PERMIT TO CARRY A CONCEALED FIREARM. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />DEESON, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AGREED TO REQUEST A MORE DETAILED <br />REASON FROM WAYNE BAKER IN WRITING AS TO WHY HE NEEDS A PERMIT TO CARRY <br />A CONCEALED FIREARM. <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL COORDINATOR THOMAS DISCUSSED -WITH THE <br />BOARD AN APPLICATION BY ST. FRANCIS MANOR FOR A DOT GRANT FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF OBTAINING A BUS TO TRANSPORT THE ELDERLY AND HANDICAPPED <br />FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT, HE INFORMED THE BOARD THE DOT WOULD PAY <br />80%, AND THAT FEDERAL REVENUE SHARING FUNDS WOULD BE REQUIRED FOR <br />THE 20% MATCHING FUNDS, <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE ASKED WHO WOULD MAN AND STAFF THIS VEHICLE, <br />COORDINATOR THOMAS STATED THAT HE APPROACHED THE AMBULANCE <br />SQUAD ABOUT SETTING UP A NON -EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, BUT THEY WISHED <br />TO STICK STRICTLY TO EMERGENCIES, HE NOTED, HOWEVER, THAT THERE ARE <br />ABOUT SIX FORMER AMBULANCE DRIVERS, WHO, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOW 65, <br />CAN NO LONGER DRIVE EMERGENCY VEHICLES, BUT CAN DRIVE NON -EMERGENCY <br />VEHICLES. SOME OF THESE MEN LIVE AT ST. FRANCIS MANOR, AND THEY ARE <br />WILLING TO FURNISH THIS SERVICE. <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE ASKED IF THESE SERVICES WOULD BE AVAILABLE <br />TO ALL THE ELDERLY AND HANDICAPPED IN THE COUNTY AND NOTED THAT A <br />BUS SERVICE IS ALREADY PROVIDED BY THE COUNCIL'ON AGING. <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL COORDINATOR THOMAS STATED THAT THESE <br />SERVICES WOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE COUNTYWIDE AND POINTED OUT THAT <br />THIS WOULD DIFFER FROM THE BUS SERVICE OFFERED BY THE COUNCIL ON <br />AGING, WHICH IS DONE ON A ROUTINE SCHEDULE AND A FIXED ROUTE. <br />3 <br />34 mei <br />FEB 2 2 1978 <br />
