COMMISSIONER ARTHUR R. NEUBERGER - INDIAN <br />RIVER HOSPITAL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES LEASE <br />EXTENSION <br />Commissioner Neuberger had read articles that the Hospital District wanted to extend their <br />lease. He was concerned as to why the lease was not going out for bids;, why they are not waiting <br />until after the elections (5 members are up for reelection in 2004); whether the hospital is working <br />in a deficit position or there is a surplus; who owns the spin off companies; and why they have a <br />problem with the Sunshine Law. He was unsure if the Hospital District Board is acting in the best <br />interest of the public or the best interest of the hospital. He wanted to know if the Board wished to <br />set up an oversight committee or leave matters up to the District board. <br />Charlie Wilson, 1057 6th Avenue, as a citizen, has taken an in depth look at the situation at <br />the hospital. He said the hospital administration and District Board have taken steps limiting <br />access to the public.
