PUBLIC WORKS – SURVEYING AND MAPPING SERVICES <br />–EASTERN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY TOWNSHIP AND <br />SECTIONAL HORIZONTAL CONTROL SURVEYING AND <br />MAPPING SERVICES PROJECT – NICK MILLER, INC. – <br />WORK ORDER NO. 2 (PHASE 3) <br /> <br />Public Works Director Jim Davis reviewed the memorandum of November 22, <br />2005, and recommended approval of the work order. <br /> <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Wheeler, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Davis, to approve staff’s <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />Michael <br />In response to Vice Chairman Neuberger’s request, County Surveyor <br />O’Brien <br /> explained the goals and importance of the project. The intention is to have a GIS map of <br />the county that would be available also to the public. <br />Director Davis mentioned that Mr. O’Brien is the state treasurer of the Florida <br />Survey, and Mapping Society and working on the presidency. <br />Bob Johnson, <br />Coral Wind Subdivision, wondered whatever happened to NW and <br />NE in reference to addresses because there are locations that are SE and SW. Also, iedf it would <br />be consider feasible for the County to reengineer the streets and avenues to be more logical. He <br />offered some suggestions how it could be simplified. <br />The responses suggested it would be a monumental task, that we have a grid system, <br />and Director Davis pointed out that our coast line is on a diagonal and that the north-south line is <br />December 6, 2005 37 <br /> <br />
