AUG 2 21979 Baas 41 PACE409 <br />COMMISSIONER LEESON EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT PROPERTY OWNERS <br />WHO DO NOT REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING. HE COMMENTED THAT <br />THE NOTICE DOESN'T TELL THE PROPERTY OWNER THAT HE CANT ADD ON TO <br />HIS HOUSE OR CAN T REBUILD IF IT SHOULD BURN, ETC, <br />JOHN KERN INFORMED THE BOARD THAT HE OWNS THE LAST LOT DOWN <br />ON THE END OF 45TH STREET AND HAS OWNED IT FOR S OR 9 YEARS. HE <br />STATED THAT HE HAD TALKED TO OTHER PEOPLE IN THE AREA, AND MOST OF <br />THEM WERE IN FAVOR OF THE REZONING. HE DID NOT FEEL THIS AREA, WHICH <br />IS IN BETWEEN JUNK YARDS, IS PROPERLY A PLACE FOR RESIDENTIAL HOMES <br />AND THAT IT DOES NOTHING BUT BREED TROUBLE. HE STATED THAT HE HAD <br />RENTALS THERE AT ONE TIME, BUT IT DIDNIT WORK OUT. HE FELT IT SHOULD <br />TURN BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL INDUSTRIAL ZONING. MR. KERN STATED THAT <br />IS WHY HE BOUGHT THE PROPERTY TO BEGIN WITH. <br />THE REASON FOR PREVIOUSLY REZONING, TO R-2 WAS DISCUSSED, AND <br />IT WAS FELT IT HAD BEEN DONE TO BRING THE HOMES INTO CONFORMITY. <br />VICE CHAIRMAN Loy COMMENTED THAT THE PLANNING & ZONING MINUTES <br />REFLECT THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE PROPERTY OWNERS AT THE PREVIOUS MEET- <br />ING DID NOT OBJECT TO REZONING TO M-1. <br />ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS COMMENTED THAT THE RIGHT OF WAY IS NOT <br />MAINTAINED, AND THERE HAVE BEEN MANY DRAINAGE PROBLEMS IN THE AREA. <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT ASKED MR. WEBB WHETHER HE DID NOT FEEL <br />HIS PROPERTY WOULD BE MORE VALUABLE AS INDUSTRIAL, AND WHETHER HE <br />WOULD WISH TO PUT ANOTHER SINGLE FAMILY HOME ON HIS PROPERTY IF THE <br />PRESENT ONE SHOULD BE DESTROYED FOR ANY REASON. <br />MR. WEBB STATED THAT HE WOULD REBUILD. HE NOTED THAT HIS <br />DAUGHTER, ROSE SMITH, LIVES IN THIS AREA AND HAS JUST BOUGHT THE <br />PROPERTY FROM MR. RODDENBERRY RECENTLY. <br />THE VICE CHAIRMAN ASKED IF ANYONE FURTHER WISHED TO BE HEARD. <br />THERE WERE NONE, <br />MS, LANCASTER NOTED THAT IT WAS BROUGHT OUT AT THE PLANNING & <br />ZONING MEETING THAT IF ANYONE WISHED TO ADD TO THEIR HOUSE, THEY COULD <br />DO SO BY GOING TO THE VARIANCE BOARD. <br />COULD MAKE AN ADDITION. <br />THEY COULDN'T REBUILD, BUT THEY <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER LYONS, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />SIEBERT, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY CLOSED THE PUBLIC HEARING. <br />
