Bou 41 PAGE 45 <br />Contract <br />State of Florida <br />DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES <br />MEDICAL EXAMINERS' COMMISSION <br />AND <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />This Contract entered into effect the day of , 1979 between the State of <br />Florida, Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, Medical Examiners' Commission, <br />represented by the officers executing this Contract and hereafter styled by the "COMMISSION", <br />and the Indian River Board of County Commissioners, represented by the officer(s) executing <br />this Contract and hereafter styled the "COUNTY". <br />Any reference in this Contract to "Districts" shall mean Medical Examiner Districts <br />as established by the Medical Examiners' Commission. <br />WITNESSETH: <br />WHEREAS, the COMMISSION has been empowered to administer funds for the continued <br />improvement and upgrading of Medical Examiner Services by Chapters 20.19 and 406, Florida <br />Statutes, and, <br />WHEREAS, the COUNTY agrees to provide all services and facilities as deemed <br />necessary to carry out the intent of Chapter 106 F.S. <br />NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual understanding and the provisions, <br />terms, and conditions hereafter set forth, the COMMISSION and the COUNTY mutually agree <br />to the following: <br />1. The COUNTY agrees to: <br />Improve the services delivery capability and the quality of Medical Examiners' Service, <br />1.1 Coordinate with the District Medical Examiner in developing a budget for <br />essential services, salaries, equipment, buildings, transportation, <br />investigations, autopsies, toxicology, laboratory services and administrative <br />costs related to the Medical Examiner Services Program. <br />1.2 In the event that an examination or autopsy is performed by the District <br />Medical Examiner or his associate upon a body when the death occurred <br />outside of.his District, the governmental body requesting the examination <br />or autopsy shall pay the fee for such services. <br />1.3 When a body is transported to the District, transportation costs, if any, <br />shall be borne by the COUNTY in which the death occurred. <br />1.4 Budget funds paid under this Contract for the sole purpose of augmenting, <br />supporting, and improving the District Medical Services Program of this <br />District. <br />1.5 Budget these funds for improving fees for service, salaries, equipment, <br />buildings, transportation, investigations, autopsies, toxicology, <br />laboratory services, and other expenses related to Medical Examiner <br />Services only. <br />
